I use the mailmerge add-on with Thunderbird/Betterbird and would use Postbox if mailmerge was available.

Does anyone know whether there is any way yet to use mailmerge? Or if it in the pipeline?

I think you may do better by proposing it to Postbox or writing to the Mailmerge author. Personally, I am disappointed with Postbox. They confirmed a serious bug I reported back in 2021 about Office365 email, yet they have not yet fixed it.
