I was disappointed that the latest update was not even announced to users, and it was only by accident that I read elsewhere of the update. What further frustrates me is that this is the first update in 15 months, and appears to have been hurriedly cobbled together to meet the upcoming requirements from Microsoft that has a deadline in September. So, is any development in the works? Or is Postbox mostly dead? My hope is that some new development is in the works, such as the ability to share the Google calendar. A few years ago, that link was supported but no longer. Anyway, I'm glad to have the MS minimum now working. For that, I am appreciative. And maybe that's a positive sign.  Postbox has been quiet for several years, other than minor fixes, yet I still keep the faith.  There, I'm through venting. I appreciate the update.

Yes, Google Calendar and Mailmerge.
Those are just two reasons I am still using Thunderbird after all these years.

I've been wondering for a year or so if Postbox is dying a slow death or not.  I'm glad to see the question.  I might see some confirmation on if that is true or not.

Interesting.  The Release Notes page shows 7.0.61, but when I do "Check for Updates" Postbox says that 7.0.60 is the latest version and I am up to date.

Maybe they're still testing, and haven't activated the, "Get it now," bit?

Follow-up:

I went to the "Request a feature" link on the postbox-inc help page.  This is ostensibly a one-way notification channel where they quite clearly say they won't reply to submissions.

I said:

I see that release notest at https://www.postbox-inc.com/product/releasenotes
shows that there is a 7.0.61 version available but when I do "Check for Updates..." I get, "You're up-to-date! Postbox 7.0.60 is currently the latest version available."
Informally people are wondering if Postbox has gone moribund because of lack of updates. The fact that there is a not fully deployed update that shows up when I run
"Check for Updates..." makes this interpretation all to easy to make.
Please finish pushing out the release.

Surprisingly, I got a reply!  They said:

We do not always turn on auto-update. For some fixes, we prefer to push a limited release to the downloads page only. This allows us to watch the fix in the wild to ensure everything goes smoothly before pushing it out to hundreds of thousands of people.

We anticipate that our next release, 7.0.62, will auto-update.

I am sharing it here because,
  1. It explains why they didn't do a push notifier for 7.0.61
  2. It shows that there is still ongoing activity happening with Postbox
