to Postal Diplomacy
So I created this group to organize postal diplomacy. After playing
online for a while, and playing f2f, I found f2f much more enjoyable.
The problem is getting people together to play. Playing online just
lacks the same personal feel and just feels like another part of my
too "digital life".
From my googling around, it seems that postal diplomacy was managed
through zines before the 90's and met a slow demise. I haven't found
any way that games get together at this point.
==How to start a new game==
*Post a new thread here with the subject "New Game: GAME NAME" where
GAME NAME is of course replaced.
*State the rules that you wish to have for the game
==How to join the game==
*Reply back to the thread.
*State any in-real-life relations you have with the players in the
game
==Some basic starter rules==
*Games should have roughly 3-4 week turns to give time for press
*All communications between players must be done through mail. No
exceptions. If you know someone IRL, don't mention the game to them in
conversation.
Lose suggestions (can be ignored by game creator)
*I would say that orders should be mailed to the judge. This would
allow for "mistakes and delays" that are intentional. Judges can
decide whether to email out turn results or mail them. It also might
be fun for the judge to add to the discussion thread the current
turn.
*Email to judge can be done to resolve technical details.
*The judge should probably receive some money for service. Perhaps a 2
dollars per player per turn. If you are creating the game, but don't
want to judge (because you want to play in the game), you should set a
bounty.
