Training on RTI Act, 05 to Strengthen Young Women’s Leadership

Call for Applications

 

The YP Foundation is hosting a training on the RTI Act, 05 with the aim of strengthening existing women’s initiatives, with young women leaders of age 18-25 years old who are directly leading interventions with communities of young people. The RTI Act, 05 will empower the women leaders and the communities they work with to hold the state governments accountable to ensure proper implementation of Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act,1995; Women's Reproductive Health and Rights, as guaranteed by the schemes and policies at State Level and on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 05 in 9 states - namely, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, J&K, New Delhi, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.

 

The 2-day training is being held in partnership with CREA, as part of the FLOW (Funding Leadership Opportunities for Women) Fund initiated by the Dutch Ministry Foreign Affairs and will be held on 4th and 5th March, 2013 in New Delhi. The commitment required from this training is that the learnings feed into existing initiatives and we will follow a regular follow-up mechanism with the youth leader on the action plan they will devise during the training.

 

The objectives of the training are:

 

  • ·    To train young women leaders on the RTI Act, 05 to encourage applicability of the RTI Act, 05 in current initiatives 
  • ·    To train young women leaders to hold their state governments accountable to ensure women's rights, with a specific focus on reproductive health, prevention of domestic violence and livelihood opportunities for women living with disability.


The expected outcomes of the training are:

 

  • ·   Increase in awareness on provisions of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 05, The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995, and provisions of the Adolescent Health Strategy and Reproductive Health program under NRHM.
  • ·   Increase in knowledge on the applicability of the RTI Act, 05 to relevant government administrations, on the RTI filing procedure and on the follow up mechanism post an RTI.
  • ·   Action Plans devised by participants for process forward in their own interventions.

 

We request you to nominate young women leaders from your organization who fit the following selection criteria:

 

  • ·    Community leaders who are young women of age 18-25 years who are directly implementing the interventions/programmes with constituencies of young women.
  • ·    Who are  working with the constituencies of young women in the states of Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, J&K, New Delhi , Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
  • ·    Who are working with constituencies of young women on issues of Domestic Violence, Reproductive Health or Livelihood opportunities for women living with disability.
