Forward on Climate – National Climate Movement Strategy Discussion – SLC

Sunday, March 10th, 5:00PM, Eliot Hall, First Unitarian Church, 569 S 1300 E, SLC

Environmental Ministry at First Unitarian Church is hosting a video chat with Bill McKibben and 350 organizers, which will cover the current political landscape and some ideas for what’s coming next for the climate movement (Keystone XL, non-violent direct action).  Afterwards there will be time for local discussions about both national plans and our local SLC/UT plans (tar sands, air quality, refineries, upcoming actions) -- generating new ideas, or making existing ideas better. We will send our ideas back to 350.org, and the following week there will be a national conference call to report back on what everyone discussed, so we can build our plans together, and learn from each other. LOCATION of the national conference call "to be determined.”
This event is free and open to the public.

BRING SOME FOOD TO SHARE and WE’LL MAKE THIS INTO A POTLUCK.   Bring your own utensils, plates and cups so that we don’t have to do dishes or produce lots of waste afterwards.

Time is running out for making a viable future wuth the commitment to an "all of the above" Obama energy strategy and the delusion of the fossil fuel industry portraying that we can continue to drill our way to "kingdom come."  As we know, it is a drill strategy for unrelenting HELL & HIGH WATER.  Can we do anything to divert it?

Come and see for yourself, make your opinions known and heard here and nationwide!

Michael
