Townhall Meeting on Public Health Threat at the Refineries


UPHE and the Davis County Community Coalition are sponsoring a townhall in Bountiful (Bountiful City Hall, (790 South 100 East, Bountiful) on Thursday, March 22, at 7:00 pm.  UPHE presenters will include Dr. Kim Selzman (Assistant Clinical Professor, U. of Utah Medical School, Director of Arrhythmia Service, Cardiology Medical Service, VA Salt Lake City Health Care System), Dr. Tyler Yeates, anesthesiologist, Lake View Hospital, Dr. Claron Alldredge, ophalthamologist Layton, Chairman of the Ophthalmology Dept at LDS Hospital, Dr. Scott Hurst, anesthesiologist, former chairman of the Anesthesia Dept at LDS Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center, and Dr. Brian Moench, president of UPHE, will present the general health consequences of air pollution and the specific public health threats of the local oil refineries--including pollution specific to refineries,  an expose' about the threat of explosions and the potential for catastrophic releases of extremely deadly chemicals.   Tim Wagner, UPHE Board member, will also talk about the broader issue of Utah continuing to pursue more and more aggressive extraction of fossil fuels.  Come support your colleagues and send a message to the state, the DAQ and the refineries--
