TheDraft Upgrade command upgrades selected objects. The result depends on the number of selected objects and their type. The command can for example fuse elements and create faces. It is worth trying to upgrade a selection several times to see if a better result can be obtained. See the example in the image. Note that not all objects can be upgraded. This command is the counterpart of the Draft Downgrade command.
So considering all of the above, it would be really great if all of the upgrades, even the emergency ones, would go through governance, and for it to be quick, it needs a way shorter voting period as having to wait 7 days to vote on an upgrade proposal to fix an emergency issue is sometimes unacceptable.
There were a lot of questions in the update announcements about python packages not working, so I wrote that post last year to help them out.
It was messy, so a few weeks ago I tried to write a neater version.
These are not what this is about,
because they get re-installed into the new python by the system update,
so the noob user has no problem with them.
(I guess this happens simply because all python packages in official repos have been upgraded to match the new interpreter, and each such package removes its old version.)
Packages from the AUR and those installed via pip install (--user or not) are linked together because these are the ones that stop working after the python interpreter upgrade, and this is the problem the noobs need help with.
When you sync your system and the system python changes and you have not excersised your due diligence thus getting into troubles then the explanations you have provided will give the reader a deeper understanding why it is such a bad decision to use pip and sudo in the same command.
Our sales associates use the "draft order" option when customers are still shopping in the store. Since the last updated (a few days ago) this is no longer working properly. They can only save one cart at a time and can not go back to edit it nor can they add items with discounts. Has anyone found a work around?
Hi, @kids-anthem. I'm happy to take a look into this with you. I just have a few questions to ensure I'm giving you accurate advice. Can you tell me more about the workflow your sales associates use? Are you managing all of this within the POS app or are you using Draft orders within the Shopify admin? Also, what is happening when your customers try to take the actions you mentioned? Are you seeing any error messages or is the option simply not available? Once I have more information I can make some suggestions to help going forward.

Hi Erin. There are several other community forum posts outlining various merchants workflows (both on POS Lite and POS Pro) and all the ways that this new "save as draft order" feature on the POS is not working well, and we desperately want the original save cart feature reinstated. If you could please do what you can within your Shopify team and developers to signal boost these issues, we would all greatly appreciate it.
Save Cart has long been heralded by Shopify itself as a core feature of the POS, I cannot believe how hard all of us merchants are having to work to explain why the save draft thing is not at all adequate as a replacement. As of today, quickly saving and retrieving a cart is literally listed on the Shopify POS App download page on the App Store as a "Checkout's Best Friend's" 5th bulleted feature, which is false advertising. And this blog post titled "How to Serve Multiple Customers Effectively with Saved Carts" from Apr 2022 sings its praises as being quick and easy, and speeding up customer transactions. We have used it for years, and incorporated it into our workflow and retail staff training. The new Save as Draft Order feature requires several more (not at all intuitive) clicks including a contact form, cannot be retrieved and re-saved via a home screen tile, cannot have discount codes added and re-saved, heck even the save function itself has to be access through a trash can symbol (which is baffling from a UX design perspective). These draft orders cannot be deleted on POS, so they clog up the back-end admin draft order section. It's a nightmare, and we were not adequately warned. The email we received Feb 29 did not explicitly warn us that the save cart feature was being sunsetted, it only referred to the ability to no save draft orders, and that's all the Changelog said as well.
For details on what happens for shops that do not complete the upgrade of their Information, Shipping, and Payment pages by the August 13, 2024 deadline, refer to the Impact of missing the August 13, 2024 deadline.
You can use Shopify Checkout to accept orders and receive payments wherever you sell online. If your store is on the Shopify Plus plan, then you can use Checkout Extensibility to add apps and advanced branding customizations in a way that's upgrade-safe and works with Shop Pay.
This guide describes new ways that you can use Checkout Extensibility to customize your Checkout, Thank you and Order Status pages on Shopify if you're currently a store on the Shopify Plus plan. Use the Checkout Extensibility Upgrade Kit to learn more about how to assess and replace your current checkout customizations.
Checkout Extensibility is a faster, better performing, more secure, and upgrade-safe option than checkout.liquid for checkout customizations. Checkout Extensibility also works seamlessly with Shop Pay. By upgrading to Checkout Extensibility, you can take advantage of several of the following new features and capabilities:
Checkout Extensibility lets you create checkout customizations that are built into apps. These apps are fast to install and upgrade-safe. To add to this, Checkout Extensibility is continuously evolving to meet your needs through new or improved features, alongside new apps.
Checkout Extensibility isn't compatible with checkout.liquid, additional scripts, or apps using script tags. You must remove or replace your checkout.liquid, thank you page, and order page customizations in order to use Checkout Extensibility.
August 13, 2024 is the deadline to upgrade from checkout.liquid to Checkout Extensibility for the Information, Shipping, and Payment pages. Checkout.liquid is deprecated and has not been updated with new functionality since 2021. With ever changing regulations worldwide, including the introduction of card industry rules under PCI DSS v4, checkout.liquid is less secure than Checkout Extensibility, and we must discontinue its support.
Starting August 14, 2024, as we begin the process of shutting down checkout.liquid for the Information, Shipping, and Payment pages completely, shops that are not upgraded will see the following impacts:
August 28, 2025 is the deadline for Plus merchants to upgrade from checkout.liquid to Checkout Extensibility for the Thank you and Order status pages. This also includes updating apps that use script tags to alternatives and replacing additional scripts with apps that use Checkout UI extensions and Shopify Pixels on those pages. Shopify Scripts will also be shut off on this date, but will continue to work alongside Checkout Extensibility until then. Scripts should be replaced with Shopify Functions before this date.
A report identifying the existing customizations to your checkout is automatically generated for you and is available in the Shopify admin and as a downloadable CSV file. Use this report to simplify your review of your existing checkout customizations and to help you upgrade to Checkout Extensibility faster.
You can still upgrade to Checkout Extensibility even if you can't replicate all of your existing customizations to checkout.liquid, additional scripts, and apps. You can choose to upgrade all pages or only Checkout pages when publishing.
In the Upgrade to Checkout Extensibility section, click View personalized report to open the report that contains information about existing customizations in your checkout, including the following data:
Consider installing checkout apps from the Shopify App Store to enhance your checkout through added functionalities that can help you grow conversions, increase average order value, and more. Checkout Blocks is a free app that offers a wide range of simple customizations, but there are many more available in the app store.
Only stores that previously had checkout.liquid active can qualify to revert back their Checkout pages after upgrading to Checkout Extensibility until August 13, 2024. All stores can revert their Thank you and Order status pages. Stores can contact Shopify Plus Support to request to revert to checkout.liquid when there isn't an option to revert to checkout.liquid on your own. Approval to revert isn't guaranteed.
