Vitalsearch website gone?

Has anyone else tried to use Vitalsearch lately? They disappeared a
few days ago.

Hi Eric,

 

I just tried to get into the website and the webpage is gone.

 

I wonder if they are just having problems with there website or if they went out of business. 

 

Before I joined up with them about 6 months ago I think I tried to get in touch with them thru email and used the California Business License website to find if they were a valid business.  I found the physical address and used www.freeality.com and I found I think 2 or 3 names at the same addess but I don't think there was a phone number or if there was I left a message and didn't receive a phone call back.  I tried to email them also when I was joining and never received a email back from them.  It felt like to me that they were interested in giving the information out on births, deaths & marriages of the pages that they xeroxed off and put online but they were not concerned about customer service just receiving there I think $57.95 per year membership.

 

Unfortunalty because of my husband career I am suspicious of everybody.  And I guess with Vitalsearch I had good reason. 

 

I used them once in a while and had fun looking thru records there for my long lost portuguese family.

 

Cliff was the one that found my Great Grandmothers death in Butte County thru them.  That is what made me join Vitalsearch.  Then I ordered her death certificate and got a little information off of the death certificate.

 

If you find anything out on what is going on with them please let us know.

I tried to access Vitalsearch myself and I could get into the Home Page(www.vitalsearch-worldwide.com/) but I cannot access the actual search sites.
Something is going on and I’m going to be upset if they have gone under, since  I just paid for a new year a couple of months ago.

After recieving no reply at 3 different phone numbers I have filed a complaint with the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs. http://www.dca.ca.gov/online_services/complaints/citizen_complaint.shtml

I have the form that you suggested everybody fill out who is with vitalsearch.  I am trying to fill it out and wanted to know if you saved a copy of the one you filled out if you could email it to me so I could fill out the exact same information that you filled out for the name, person whom I dealt with, location & telephone #'s. 

 

Then your description of your complaint.  I am not very good wording things and that is why I am asking for your help.

 

I would ask my husband because he is use to correctly wording things for cases, warrants, etc. but he is to busy now and tomorrow he is getting his knee operated on.  Otherwise I probably wouldn't impose on you for help with this information.

 

I tried to get I think it is the only form that I suppose you just fill out and email to them but it came up webpage unknown.  So I have this form and I will try to fax it to them from my home.

 

I really appreciate you helping me if you can.  I have to get ready to get up and leave at 4:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.

I used the online complaint form. I said that Vitalsearch is a subscription internet database, and after paying for a years membership, they vacated their website. This is different from a technical problem as the web address seems to be for sale. The fact that what was described as their California offices on their site either doesn't exist or is a mailbox at a UPS store shows an intent to defraud.

 

My next step is to contact VIsa to alert them to this scam.

I didn't know that the website is for sale.  That is a problem for all of us customers.

 

Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help on my end in regards to this problem.

 

I have never contacted my Visa company to alert them to a scam.  Have you?  Do they reverse the charges after an investigation?

 

If I have time tomorrow when I get home from the hospital from my husbands surgery I will see if I can find the 2 or 3 names including I think the addresses and phone numbers that I found in Pleasanton to see if it matchs with what you have.

You got my curiousity up so I went and pulled the 3 names that I printed out on September 12, 2007

They are all listed at the same address 4000 Pimilco Drive Suite # 114 Pleasanton, CA 94588.

 

Below are the names and each phone # I found for all 3 people at the same address above.

I found these as I mentioned when I found the address of the business and used www. freeality and put in the address and all 3 of these names and phone #'s came up.

 

Sometime this week I will try to call all 3 of these phone #'s to see if there disconnected or not.

The fact they have these public databases, and they operate like an illegal business is disturbing.

Most banks and credit unions think they can verify identity over the phone with birthdate and mothers maiden name,  so beware.

I've been lurking for a while now since I've put my active genealogy
research on the back burner, but had to chime in here. I'm amazed at
all the suggestions of scams and illegal activities that seem to have
cropped up about a company that's been around for a LONG time. If
people feel they're scammers why sign up for their services. You can
use the free online stuff to get a lot of info


I'm curious exactly what the "illegal" manner is that they operate in
Eric? Their servers were probably down is all,

However, one thing to note. If you keyed in www.vitalsearch.com you
arrive at a different website than you intended to go to. There are
internet companies out there called poachers, meaning they register
domains similar in name to popular ones. If people don't look at them
closely they don't realize they're not the intended destination.
Vitalsearch is no more at fault for this domain being set up than you
or I are.! So PERHAPS it was user error rather than anything
scandalous going on at their company?

I stated they operated like an illegal company would. They stated on their Vitalsearch worldwide site that they had world headqurters at  their "Pleasanton offices". It is a UPS store mailbox at 4000 Pimlico Dr

 

Every phone number they used in their business filings in California and Nevada was disconnected and no longer in service when I tried to contact them during the five or six days they were offline

 

This has the appearance of a shady business. This how "canadian pharmacies " and " male enhancement"

companies operate.

Sorry I haven’t been on the group today. I started a new business as a Independent Distributor of a Product called MonaVie, which is a drink with 10 fruits in it, including the all important Açai(pronounced aa sign ee) berry, from the Brazilian Rain Forest of Amazon. It has been doing absolute wonders for my body. Today, I went to the Santa Monica Convention Center for a trade show where my sponsor had a booth.
