Hello. I just came across you blog and it is fantastic. Can you tell me how many Silhouette Cameo machines you are running? I have two going now and I am thinking of adding two more. Do you know about using a USB hub and/or USB extension cords? I want to have my machines on a table next to my computer desk and the cords that come with the machines are not long enough to accommodate this. Thanks for any info you can provide. Good luck with your business.

Hi Sandra! If you have Business Edition, you can create designs in Silhouette Studio, save them in SVG format, and import them into Design Space to use with any Cricut machine. You can also purchase an SVG version of most files in the Silhouette Design Store to use in Design Space (without going through the Silhouette Studio software). You can find a tutorial that explains the process in more detail here: -to-use-silhouette-design-store-files-with-the-cricut-joy/

Before I get into how to create SVG files in Silhouette Studio, I want to go over what exactly an SVG is. SVG stands for scalable vector graphic. SVG images are in vector file format instead of raster. Vector graphics are comprised of points whereas raster image formats are comprised of pixels. Examples of raster graphics include JPEG and PNG files. The big difference between vector and raster is that vector files can be scaled up without losing resolution. Raster images lose resolution and become blurry if they are scaled up (enlarged) too much. Because vector graphics can be scaled up, they can be placed on something as small as a business card or as large as a billboard and the resolution will be the same.

If you are running version 4.4.552 or newer, you will open the DESIGN section of your existing silhouette studio installation and click HELP and then click APPLY UPGRADE EDITION. This will open a window on the Silhouette website where you enter your account information and connect your new key to your account. The key is in your emailed order confirmation right below where it lists the upgrade you bought.

If you are running version an older version, you will open the DESIGN section of your existing silhouette studio installation and click HELP and then click UPGRADE SILHOUETTE STUDIO. This will open a new window where you enter your account information and the your new upgrade key. The key is in your emailed order confirmation right below where it lists the upgrade you bought.

I need to spend a weekend playing with all the features and watching tutorials on my silhouette. I have been using it for almost two years now and I am sure there is a lot I still don't know that can be done with it!! When you use the pretty watercolor what do you do with the design after you make it??

Hi, Can you please explain how can we make a text sticker ready to cut with silhouette? i have made an A4 page in illustrator like normal design and saved it as JPG. when i upload it to silhouette studio and i press on trace, it traces each letter alone not the whole sentence together like stickers i see in the shops :l i hope you know what i mean

Hello and thank you for the useful information. For someone wanting to start creating and selling svg files do you think at the begging is it necessary to buy a Cricut or silhouette cutting tool? or just knowing the right svg save as quidelines are enough to start designing and selling? :) Many thanks!!!

If your business is a start-up with no website, you need us! If your business is only surviving due to an outdated website, we can redesign or replace it with one that will engage visitors and keep them coming back for more. If your business is growing, then good for you! You will need a website, however, that will accommodate that expansion. More traffic would need more bandwidth, for example.
