Hello tablers and attendees of the 2012 Portland Zine Symposium!

We are a mere TWO DAYS from the big event, can you believe it?? That's right, the Portland Zine Symposium is happening on August 11th and 12th at Refuge, 116 SE Yamhill. We'll be open to the public from 10am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday. Invite all your friends! Attendance to PZS is FREE both days!

Lots of info here, so please read through to the end to make sure all your ducks are in a row.

TABLERS: You may check in on Saturday and Sunday starting at 9am. If you come earlier, we will put you to work! And please remember, we are going to be adhering to the one chair per half table rule this year, so please keep that in mind when making your pre-symposium prep plans. And as with previous years, your seats are assigned, so you will need to check in when you arrive to find out your tabling assignment.

The workshop schedule has now been posted! Which one are you most excited about attending?

We will also have a silent auction at PZS this year! Bid on goods from SoupCycle, Top Shelf Productions, Alicia from Fancy! Salon, Pacific Pie Co., and more, as well as art generous donated by local artists. Thanks again to all of our donors who have made this possible.

The zine symposium has gone high-tech this year. We've developed an app that includes workshops, events, a map of the venue, and even a list of tablers. It's free. Download it now. Welcome to the future!

We have a series of events happening this weekend that we hope to see you at!

On Friday, August 10th, join us at the Independent Publishing Resource Center at 7pm for an open house of the new space with tours and letterpress demonstrations. We'll also be hosting Zine Jeopardy with host Alex Tre-Wrekk! Come help us kick off the weekend with fun and prizes.

On Saturday, August 11th, at 7:30PM join us for an amazing reading and music show at Backspace (115 NW 5th Ave.). Point Juncture WA and The World Radiant will be playing, in addition to selected readings from the final installment of A FIELD GUIDE TO STAR TREK: TNG, Martha Grover, Alex Wrekk, and Everett Patterson. There will be a suggested donation of $5 to help benefit the Portland Zine Symposium, but no one will be turned away.

And on Sunday August 12th, wind down after a long weekend of zine-ing out with karaoke at the IPRC (1001 SE Division) starting at 7pm. The event is free, and we'll have refreshments for you to enjoy as you relax and do some bonding with all the friends you made at this year's symposium.

Finally, if you are interested in volunteering at the event, please email us, and we'll set you up on the schedule! We need people to run the info and merch tables, help us set up and break down, clean up and maintain the food area, and help direct people to workshops. Email pdxz...@gmail.com to get on the list.

We really appreciate all your help in making this event fun for everyone! As we enter the final stretch, please tell everyone you know about this event and encourage them to check it out. We're looking forward to seeing you all there! Any questions, comments, or concerns can be sent to pdxz...@gmail.com
