5. 2013 Poster Art Call - Make the PZS 2013 poster!

1. AmaZine Day - Hello everyone! Exciting news. The 2nd ever AmaZine Day will be taking place on Saturday, December 8th from 2pm-6pm at the Independent Publishing Resource Center (1001 SE Division). AmaZine Day is a new small press and mini zine fest taking place three times a year at the IPRC. Celebrate zines and community with the Portland Zine Symposium organizers at this farmer's market-like event. Stock up on fun zines and handmade items for the holidays!

The event is FREE to attend, but you can register for a little slice of table to sell and trade your zines for only $5. There are only 40 spots available, and you'll need to fit your zines into a tabloid-size area (11 by 17 inches). Sign up is IN PERSON ONLY at the IPRC. While you are there, pick up a promotional pack of flyers and handbills to help us promote the event! All donations will go towards the Portland Zine Symposium and the IPRC. We'll have beverages (from Ninkasi to HotLips soda) and pizza for you to enjoy. Come join us!

2. Open Meeting - Our 2nd open meeting will be taking place on Wednesday, December 5th at the IPRC (1001 SE Division) at 7pm. Do you love the Portland Zine Symposium? Have you ever thought about becoming more involved? Now's your chance! We're looking for some solid, zine-loving folks to help us make this thing happen! There are a variety of ways to be involved, so come to the meeting to hear more about where we are in the process and how you might be able to fit in. We can't do it without you!

3. New Venue Search - Portland Zine Symposium is looking for a home! As many of you who have come to this event know, we are desperately in need of a bigger venue! We are currently researching all sorts of venue options, but we want to cast as wide of a net as possible. Know a friend with a warehouse space? Heard of a cool event happening somewhere cheap? Let us know! Any info you have might be valuable. We want a bigger space at a price that keeps our zine fest inclusive!

4. Street Team - Wanna help out with the Portland Zine Symposium, but don't have a lot of time to come to meetings? Become part of our street team! We are hoping to establish a base of people who regularly put up flyers for PZS events and announcements in different areas of town. Bring a stack of handbills to your favorite coffee shop. Put up posters in a row of businesses near your house. It's easy and fun! Right now we need help putting up promotional flyers for AmaZine Day and our art call! Please let us know if you are interested, and we will hook you up with everything you need (and more). Most of the time, anyone can pick up promotional materials from the IPRC.

5. Art Call - We are still accepting submissions for art for the 2013 Portland Zine Symposium poster! This year's theme is luck of the zine. Your art submission should be your creative interpretation of that theme and will represent the 13th Annual PZS. You can read the full call and guidelines here: http://pdxzines.com/writing/180/ Deadline is December 16th! Submissions can be emailed to pdxz...@gmail.com or mailed to PZS c/o Portland Button Works, 1322 N Killingsworth, Portland, OR 97217
