Hello all, I am so glad I've found this group! Can anyone point me to
some of their favorite trails? My main criteria are 1) the beauty of
the area and 2) relatively low risk of dying by slipping off a soggy
ledge-- in that order. I am not as concerned with the quality of the
"workout."
And do people from this group ever run together? I might like that,
though I do tend to be a lone runner. Once upon a time I was a
distance runner in high school, then college, then after college
training for the national championships. I have to confess I never
enjoyed the competitive runs and races because they distracted me from
the most enjoyable aspects of running. Still, my pace is probably
decent and I have always been able to go very far without tiring, even
when out of form. I shy from special gear and special technique, and
run for fun. Besides, I have never found a more effective elixir, in
any race, than the feeling that I am having fun.
I grew up running in the country and have never been able to stomach
running around city streets or even tame suburban neighborhoods. I
think bike trails are OK, but not that inspiring. I am interested in
the most remote areas. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help.
