Hey all,

I'm an avid runner and I used to have a great crew to hit the trails
with. Sadly, between moving a few times and people growing apart, I
now find myself running by myself most days. I'd love to get re-
connected with other enthusiastic runners. At the moment, I'm not
training for anything but I still cruise 60-90 minutes several days a
week. I'd love to know when/where people are going; maybe we can get
connected and I can join in on a few runs.

Thanks,

Lars

Lars,

The Portland Trail Runners is kind of dead now.  My buddy and I took it over last year and I just had a baby so we didn't keep it up.  I am still running of course and would love to join you sometime.  I live in SW PDX and primarily run in Tryon Creek and Marshal Park...

Chris,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear the group has fallen apart. Do
you know of any forums or groups that are still active?
I live pretty far north but I head down to Beaverton most weekends; It
looks like both Tron and Marshall are pretty well on the way so I can
swing by easily enough.
Let me know when you'll be out and how far, and I'll let you know if I
can join you.

Definitely!  Check out http://trailfactorpdx.com/.  They are very active.  I am in that group as well.  If you live in Beaverton your best bet is Forest Park.  My favorite start points are the zoo (just off 26) and McLeay Park.  You can pick up some good maps at any local running store.

The Zoo is the start of Wildwood and has the most hills on that side.  McLeay Park is off of Thurman and in my opinion is the most beautiful part of the park.  Some friends and I did the length of WW last year and it is so nice.

I'm on sabbatical from work until next Tuesday so am available to run almost any time (I have a newborn so of course that depends a bit!).  I'm always stoked to run Marshall and Tryon.  From my front door I can be in Marshall within .5 miles and all the way to Lake O in 30 minutes.  The course goes down on road (I live on a steep hill) into Marshall Park and some great (and little used) single track with hills, switchbacks and log crossings.  Then up a short stint of road into the great Tryon Creek park (my favorite park ever).  Tryon is a 'wagon wheel' of trails with tons of hills.

What kind of running shape are you in?  I'm really wanting to do a Gorge or Forest Park run this weekend if possible (I'm not in the best shape right now)...

Let me know.  I'm always happy to show you the trails!  As I said, I live in SW PDX.  My wife and I are both ultra runners so she is OK to let me out ot run!  :)

Let's meet up Sunday, either morning or evening, for a Forest Park
run. I'm game for either the Zoo or McLeary. I'm in shape for about
a 90min run. I'd love to head up to the Gorge, but that may have to
wait for a bit.

Marathon Sunday, FYI! The course crosses Thurman at NW 26th, I
believe. When you exit onto Vaughn from HWY 30, park somewhere
immediately and just job into lower Macleay, if that's where you're
starting. See the pdf link below...

It should be fine by the evening.

Good point!  Sorry, I can't get out this morning.  Maybe an afternoon run in SW PDX (Marshall/Tryon).  Went to homecoming yesterday and have a ton of stuff to catch up on this morning (plus it is my morning to watch the little one!)
