Hello All,

I just moved here from California (ducking from things being thrown at
him), and I am looking to take my running much more serious. Most of
the running clubs I have looked into seem to focus on group runs that
reside on paved surfaces or tracks. I would prefer to stick to dirt,
mud, rocks, and streams. I would also prefer to not run in crowds so
large as to have dozens of people around. I usually only go down paved
streets in large crowds when I am in a parade.

I live in the Southeast and am without a car. This means biking to
Forest Park are my only trail options that I am aware of. Are there
other trails around here? Do runners car pool on the weekends to hit
up other trails? I would be very interested in this.

I am not a very advanced runner. I have been doing it for about a year
and my long runs have never gone over 11 miles. I have about an 8-9
minute per mile pace I would roughly estimate. However, my ceiling is
much higher than this, and I know I will improve greatly in distance.
Is there anybody on a similar level to this?

Nice to meet you,
Dustin Garrison

Hi Dustin,
Did anyone reply to you on this? I emailed Chris Peck and he said
plenty of people did, and I just wanted to make sure as I would hate to
see you go without in this great city!! Let me know and if not, I can
get you hooked up with others!
Welcome to Oregon (from a fellow Californian!)

I have been a member on this site for awhile, but have not
participated, but Dusty you have encouraged me to get crazy! I am
would like to go on a little run on Sunday this weekend sometime in
the morning, some distance. Maybe 13 maybe 6, doesn't really matter
to me as long as it's not that fast. I don't know my pace but it's
gotta be darn close to 10 minute miles. Just been running a bit and
wouldn't mind some company on a little trot. So Dustin, if you want
or anyone else really, let me know. Forest Park is super easy and
Lower Macleay parking lot is pretty easy to find, so that works for
me.
