Hi all!

We are assembling lists of songs and leaders. Below are my lists of songs, but I cannot positively identify everyone by voice.

Would you please identify which songs you led, either in email or on Facebook?

Thank you!

I think I led 186 on Saturday. I know I led 40 on Sunday.

On Saturday, I led 47B, which I think is before you were able to get started recording; and 532.
On Sunday, I led  384.

Great!

Kate, I did find 47b in my recording. Somehow I missed identifying it as a song when I was finding the songs. We were so fast in calling and leading the next song!

Karen, I listened and it was definitely you leading 186.

Thank you!

Steve Tarr, could you have led 112-The Last Words of Copernicus instead of 117 on Saturday? I can’t find 117.

Tamara, I can’t find 128 on Saturday.

Thanks everyone for contributing!

I am currently uploading the recordings here: https://archive.org/details/posh-at-pam-grand-opening

Please have a listen and identify yourself and/or other leaders.

The quality is below par; my apologies. If all of the songs are not available when you look, give it a few minutes and refresh the page. The info I have is in draft form. I will update it when it is complete.

Below are my current lists of songs and leaders.

Thank you!

For some reason, there's no sign of me leading 128 on Saturday.  Can anyone else here confirm this happened in real life, or was it an extremely vivid hallucination?

These don't seem to be in order, so I'm not sure how to search for it.

The files are listed in alphabetical order BUT I typoed the date for Saturday, so the list has Sunday before Saturday.

Within each day the file names include “t01”, “t05”, etc. these are for “track 01”, etc.

I guess I just don’t understand the point of this project.
This was not an official minuted singing. It was a demonstration.

Did you end up submitting minutes, Mischa? (I'm sorry--I've been out all day and just got home.) Remember they are due today, if you haven't yet done so yet. I made a couple small edits to the draft you sent in another email.

I am rather with Betsy in being unsure how appropriate it is to submit minutes from what was, essentially, a demo singing. (I just can't bring myself to call it a performance, though that seems to be what the folks who booked us considered it to be.) But it seems you and Tamara feel strongly about wanting to submit.

And, all of that said, it is nice to have a record of what we sang, whether minutes are/were submitted or not.

Hello everyone,

Please read this if you have questions or opinions about whether we should compile and submit the minutes from the museum singing to FaSoLa.The deadline to submit these is midnight tonight and some folks have been working on thisso we'd need to hear as soon as possible if folks object.

Here's the backstory:
There was never an intention to minute this singing, but on Saturday after the singing several singers asked me about it, and urged us to compile minutes and consider submitting them. I checked in with Nancy, our expert Secretary, and she was not sure it was fully appropriate but also couldn't find any specific reasons why not and couldn't think of objections to this. (Nancy feel free to chime in here).

On Sunday, after Keith carefully recorded all the songs, Mischa took on the work of tracking down all of the singers and compiling minutes, with the intent to submit these to FaSoLa with edits and support from Nancy and me.

What I think we bypassed in the process was the step of checking in with the group about this decision and getting consent to send these minutes in. Typically when we have a convention or something we'd hold a short business meeting to consent to chair, secretary etc-- and we didn't have any of this process, due to the nature of this singing.

In short, does anyone have strong objections to these minutes being submitted to FaSoLa by 11pm or midnight tonight?

I apologize for my part in missing this skipped step. I personally have no strong feelings about the need to submit minutes, but recognize work has gone into it, and I heard expressed 1) it was a big public singing and we did sing a fair number of songs over two days 2) there were several newer and/or first-time leaders in a big, public environment-- and documentation of this could be encouraging.

Please let us know asap.

I am not going to stay up until midnight to hear the outcome, so I'm hoping Nancy and/or Mischa will take this feedback and make a decision about whether to submit the minutes tonight or not.

Thank you,
Tamara

Submitting them doesn't make much sense to me - it was a grand total of 2 hours of singing over two days, and wasn't advertised as an all-day singing or convention.  It was more like our regular Sunday singing.

However, if it fits FaSoLa's guidelines for submission, I don't see harm in submitting it.

I rarely speak since I am not participating, but I feel despite all the organization this took that it is primarily like any other demo singing.   The singing at Lone Fir has all intents, purposes, and outcome except for being in the dark.
Likewise the Folk Festival.

It should not be minuted.

I think Judy Cole will let us know if it’s not the kind of singing that should be limited. Meanwhile, is someone else said we have a record for ourselves, and proof for posterity of the prodigious number of songs we belted out.

Hi all,

Thanks Tamara for giving the clear explanation about what happened to get us here.

Because of that though, I did look at some recent Minutes books because I was unsure if these short singings “qualified”.  I did not find a description of what is and isn’t allowed.

I did also call Mark Godfrey (who works on the Minutes books) for advice on this on Wednesday. To paraphrase him, he thought our two singings were a relative big deal and way more than qualify for the minutes book, having seen everything that has been submitted and approved recently.

Because of those two things, I feel that submitting is appropriate.

Oh!  I didn’t answer Nancy.

Nope, I have not submitted quite yet. It’s ready to go, but I wanted there to be room for us to talk about it before deciding.

For my feelings, I was ambivalent on Sunday.  Now, it does seem appropriate and we are able to.

Dorothy, the recordings are available here. There are a couple of edits it needs though before I call it complete.  I will do those shortly.
