Postal Rally: Good Service, Good Jobs, Good Contract
Commissioners Rubio and Jayapal to Speak
Who: City Commissioner Carmen Rubio and County Commissioner Susheela Jayapal - plus postal union officials, and community leaders – from the American Postal Workers Union, National Association of Letter Carriers, Laborers Union, Starbucks Workers United, Portland Indivisible, the Democratic Socialists of America, and Jobs with Justice - will address the crowd. The Raging Grannies and James Cook will perform.
What: labor-community rally, signs, banners, chants, songs, (interviews available)
When: Monday, February 20, Noon
Where: East Portland Post Office, 1020 SE 7th Ave. 97214
Why: The People’s Postal Service, run by dedicated postal workers, protected our votes and delivered for the holidays, even when burdened with understaffing, cuts, delays, and price hikes by top postal management.
Raising wages and providing full benefits to attract and retain postal workers would address the understaffing and mail delays. The US Postal Service can afford to settle a good contract with the National Association of Letter Carriers.
