08/16/07 - Mr. Fortuna Got Gas In Port Chester, Because He Was On
Empty. The Price Made Him Sick, Because It Was 20 Cents Higher Than In
New Rochelle.

HEADLINE:

Gas prices fall but still sting

STORY:

The rise in gasoline prices that took place earlier this summer may be
paying off for drivers this month, a government report said
yesterday.

The average price of regular unleaded gasoline dropped 6.7 cents to
$2.771 last week and was 22.9 cents lower than last year, the U.S.
Energy Information Administration said in a weekly report.......
......Joe Fortuna of New Rochelle, who paid $3.039 a gallon to fill
his Acura sport utility vehicle at an Exxon station on Main Street in
his hometown, said: "Gas is too high anyways. It's ridiculous."

He said he tries not to use his air conditioner if he doesn't have to.
He said he also tries to take his foot off the gas pedal and coast for
stretches when he's driving on the highway.

Fortuna said he was in Port Chester recently, where gas prices are
higher than in New Rochelle. He stopped to get gas because he was on
empty.

"I had to fill up 20 cents higher," he said. "It made me sick."......
