Portlets is not appearing after migration from portal 8.0 to 8.5

Team,

 We are migrating our application from Websphere portal 8.0 to 8.5 and deployed the existing custom themes to websphere portal 8.5 . Now the issue is after adding the portlets on the page, portlets are not appearing on the page. Can some one tell what could be the issue.

Anil,

What do you mean by not adding? You don't see portlets even though they were added? Or not getting added at all? 

Did you export page and if they exist on page? Let us know.

If you don't see in your page exported xml, I would say portlet/screen rendering code missing from or deprecated in 8.5 version.

Thank you for information. I tried to export page and verified. Portlet is included in the xml file.

Dear Anil,

How are you doing? :-)

We recently upgraded from Portal 8 to 8.5 then 9.

Few things we observed I am going to list them down. See if these cross checks will help you to resolve.

1. Please do not use 8.0 theme as it is in higher version, please take the latest theme templates/sources and migrate your custom code. For us it was not compatible in edit mode and other edit options.

2. in portal 8 I believe the default language was en_US where as in higher version its changed to en alone (at least for us) because of which we had some rendering issues even the imports were successful. Suggest you to please check language attributes in your export/import scripts with respect to default lang of portal of 8 and 8.5.

3. We anyhow upgraded our source builds to jdk 8 compatible framework jars and re-built everything.
