Dear All,

I am migrating portal 8.0 with portal 9.0 and in the process I am first migrating it to 8.5 after which again will be migrated to 9.0.

In the process of migration to 8.5, migration was successful and everything went well. however, since I deployed my 8.0 porltlet applications (build on java 6) then I am observing two issues.

1. Server start time increased to 45 minutes and above, dumps were analyzed.
2. application's captcha text is not visible (captcha block is filled with black color) if know issue then appreciate your inputs otherwise I will look into it.\

Need your inputs mainly on issue #1. Thank you in advance for your inputs. Stay blessed, take care.

Ravi - Thanks for helping in earlier post.

Regards,
Imtiaz Basha Syed.

Hi Syed,

It's my pleasure brother and thanks for those valuable posts.

For your #1: can't logs tells where and why the startup time is more? SystemOut.log? Does your 8.0 and 8.5 are same flavor? Means: enable, extend etc? If they are different then it make sense we can see startup time difference between 8 & 8.5

It's not on my top of my head, but I think there is an file called applications.xml(appserver) where you can see all OOB portlet apps and others, if you can compare these two files between two version you might able to find out difference if there is any.

Some time ago I was asked to read about portal 9 by our client, but I don't see many changes in 9. Do you see any?

Ravi

Thanks Ravi,

Issue is resolved with the help of updated JDK version in server. Earlier JDK was keep looking for classes which it didn't find but now its skipping if classes not available. Startup time is back to normal now. Thank you.

Imtiaz Syed.

Dear All,

Need help on below issue.

We are setting some session values in processEvent method and trying to get in doView method. but we are getting null.
If we set sessionValues in doView it is available on jsp, but values set in processEvent not available in doView or jsp.

Not sure if we need to enable any container settings for this.

Thanks
Ram

Hi... Sorry for delay in response.

Ideally to make values available in request while rendering phase of life cycle one need to call setRenderparameter in action/event phase to set the value. Once this is invoked the values will be available in render phase.

coming to session value, if this session object is retrieved using portlet objects then session scope will be within portlet and hence need to use renderRequest object in view otherwise set session scope to application so that it will be available to request object. I hope this will help you.

Imtiaz Basha Syed.
