Hi Portable-GIS list members,

Just to let you know that I am putting the finishing touches to a new release of Portable GIS. This will include QGIS 2.18 LTR and some re-factored python. The major thing about this new release is that Portable GIS is getting it's own website, and the customised code will be available in a gitlab repository, with online documentation care of ReadTheDocs.

As part of this process I am considering retiring this google group. It's very low traffic, and I would prefer to use other methods of announcing releases, such as twitter. I would also like to use the issue facility in gitlab for dealing with any problems.

I'm inviting comment on this decision- if you think there's a good reason for keeping this group going then I'd be happy to listen.

Thanks, and thanks as always for your support!

Jo

I think github is a great idea.  I still follow it and keep a copy updated.
Thanks!

Hi,

Portable GIS should be 32 bit. If you're having a problem with the installation let us know what it is and we will try to help.

Thanks

Jo

Hi,

Portable GIS isn't tested with Windows XP any more, as I don't have anything that runs it. However, you might be able to fix this. Do a search on your computer for the file mentioned in the error message. If you find it, copy it (don't move it), into the directory that qgis-bin.exe is in (usbgis\apps\qgis2\bin). You might have to repeat that for more dlls. Just make sure you copy them, so that the original file stays in the correct location. If you can't find the file, post back to this list and we'll see if we can help.
