Hi List,

I'm pleased to announce that Portable GIS 5.8 has now been released. This release comes with a dedicated website at https://portablegis.xyz, and plenty of documentation. See the website for details and where to download.

Since I am preparing a hasty patch due to including an earlier version of QGIS 2.18, you would be advised to wait until after 5pm BST today (9th August) to download it. If the website download page says 5.8.1 then it's ready, if it say 5.8, then it's not!

Thanks

Jo

Great news!
Are you going to move the code to https://github.com/archaeogeek/osgis-portablegis ?
I guess GitHub and issues talks/discussions will be better way than this list for future feedbacks.
Cheers

Hi,

There's no need to move anything to github as gitlab has all the same functionality. So it's up and available at https://gitlab.com/archaeogeek/portable-gis.

Thanks

Great!
I went to GitHub repository because is linked in PortableGIS web page.
May be it's better to have the gitlab link one.
Cheers

Well those are just my general contact links, not links to the software! Having said that, since portable gis now has a twitter account I will change them.

Well if I see "GitHub" link I expect to go to the repository of the software.

By the way, GREAT WORK! I promote it a lot within my students and I solved from problems sometimes when I do not have my computes around.

Cheers

Hi,

I've fixed it- I hadn't thought it would cause confusion.

Thanks, by the way, I'm glad it's being used!
