I have no idea how to use FWTools.
Ive clicked on Setup FWTools, a dos window appears for a second and
then nothing.
Is there an interface or is it all command driven - where do I go to
start entering commands?

i need to convert a number of ECW images to TIFF/TFWs

Hi Simon,

FWTools is actually a suite of programmes. The setup program does
indeed run silently, then that should allow you to use the openev
programme from the menu- this is a desktop gis package- info is here:
http://openev.sourceforge.net/

The rest of the tools are command line- info is here for the gdal
toolkit for working with raster data: http://www.gdal.org/ and here
for the ogr toolkit for working with vector data: http://www.gdal.org/ogr/

To access the command line tools you need to change to the correct
directory from the command line- this will be G:\USBGIS\APPS
\FWTools2.1.0\bin or whatever your drive letter is.

Hope this helps and sorry for the delay in responding, I have been on
holiday

Jo
