streaming sites get taken down more often so you constantly need alternatives, don't have large enough libraries, generally have s*** quality, might be virus ridden, are slow, etc.. it's more about those things than how complicated it is
how much space have you used up so far? i've been downloading 4k movies more often lately but i bought so much space i feel like it'll last forever lol. also how do you like jellyfin? i'm plex sheep but it seems like the most polished and feature-filled option so far. only tried emby for a couple days and read about jellyfin so i don't really know.
I think I've used 8TB so far. I was at 16TB at one point but I recently decided to wipe damn near everything as I was switching most of my content to 4k. It's a separate dedicated PC so I'll have to check again.
I'm a huge fan of Jellyfin. I've used Plex for many years and even bought the lifetime Plex Pass but I don't think I'll ever go back. I want my server to be MY server and it's gotten annoying that I feel like I occasionally have to go out of my way to get to my own content. It's especially bad when you're sharing the server with the people you live with. I want my users to see the content that I am providing and only that. I feel like I have no control in Plex anymore. Jelly is still pretty much community ran and I think it's features and updates are coming from people that align more with what I want out of a self hosted server. Whereas Plex features and updates are coming from a fairly large company that is now trying to move away from the self hosted crowd.
i'll consider trying it one day. i did find it really annoying when they added that "Movies & TV" section and ended up hiding it on all of my users' accounts lol. i also really respect the FOSS philosophy
what trackers were you on? if i were you i'd try to get those accounts back. the usual best way to get into the main "cabal" is to interview for RED but that site seems to be having issues right now. and none of the others do open invites anymore IIRC. so the best route is probably to move up the ranks with what you've got
Yeah, I agree tbh. I am pretty sure What.CD wasn't this bad but maybe it's nostalgia. Like I think the seedbox racing wasn't this bad back then. I remember getting a decent ratio just by downloading torrents whenever they went freeleech. But you have to try really hard on RED and you will probably end up either buying albums for requests or buying a seedbox. I think having a somewhat difficult tracker as the entrypoint is important so that we can filter out the bad users but it is too much.
Anyway, is anybody here on Orpheus? I was on Apollo and just found out that they came back under a rebrand (again).I might try and get my account back.
i disagree with you for niche content. its so useful to find anything, in the quality you want, at a click of a button. Most the time on public trackers i can find stuff i want... but s***ty ass encodes like say "21 jump street 1080p" and the s*** is 800MB.
can i use couchpotato+radarr+sonarr+jackett with my private trackers? what exactly do they do?
from my understanding they download shows automatically but what if i prefer to look at how the episodes were encoded before downloading? can i set it up to show me all the different options across my different trackers or something before downloading?
