Newbie installation difficulties

Dear List,
Apologies for having a problem on the first step.

I have copied the installation folder tree into my web published
directory.
As an initial test I have not modified anything, therefore config
folder is still as a sub-folder of the web published folder. Therefore
I have not modified the PORPOISE_CONFIG_PATH variable.

However calling porpoise.php I get a blank page, so neither a 404 or a
403.

Any ideas? How do I diagnose the problem?
