You can find dozens upon dozens of mobile scanning apps on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, most of which have glowing reviews and attractive-sounding features. But, sadly, a lot of them are junk.

A portable scanner allows you to scan photos, documents, receipts, and images even while out and about. Unlike traditional scanners that sit on a desktop, portable scanners are designed to be used on the go.

To keep any scanner operating properly, certain maintenance should be performed at different stages in the life of the product. Please contact us for more information on where to purchase parts and accessories for your scanner.

I've been having this problem ever since I started using shopify POS, I sell books and when I scan the barcode on the book, it comes up as a completely different input than what is labeled on the barcode. I have to manually go in and check what the scanner is reading and paste it as the barcode for an item. It's very frustrating, and this only happens with the socket mobile scanner. When I scan with my phone it scans the barcode number correctly. Is there any fix to this?

Make sure your scanner is not connected to any device when you scan the code. Easiest way to do this is to turn off bluetooth on your device, scan the code, then turn on bluetooth and reconnect the scanner. Then can an ISBN code and see if it fixed it. If not, do the same steps again and scan the other Bookland code.

"PC/Mac Connect" scanner utility allows you to update firmware online. Be sure to carefully follow the instructions when updating the firmware on your scanner. Do NOT power off scanner or remove the SD card while performing these steps.

The S740 is an ideal option for the many POS/retail outlets that require age verification. For retail businesses that sell cannabis, alcohol, or tobacco, the S740 is an all-in-one scanning device, allowing workers to verify age and complete POS operations with a single device, minimizing the equipment needed. The S740 is lightweight, ergonomically designed and comes with long-lasting batteries. The scanner is exceptionally easy to use, with intuitive notifications for battery level, Bluetooth connection, and scanning status.

The S720 is wireless, providing increased mobility and productivity, helping reduce human error. 2D barcodes offer the next step in versatility, functionality, and efficiency that cannot be achieved with linear 1D barcodes. Using 2D barcodes with an effective barcode reader gives your business an accurate and easy way to track inventory and assets, scan products, digital IDs and/or credentials from mobile wallets. Designed for the budget-conscious business, the S720 is a great everyday general-purpose 2D barcode reader that scans the most popularly used 2D barcodes such as PDF417, QR Codes and Data Matrix.

Turn your phone into a powerful scanner with Mobile Scanner app. Scan anything including documents, paper notes, receipts, and books into clear & sharp PDFs and images. Convert images into text with OCR technology and export searchable PDF files.

Doxie has quite a bunch a mobile scanner-products in their portfolio. And while most of the other scanners are mobile sheetfed scanners that basically are aiming at getting you paperless, the Doxie is more of an exotic but exciting thing.

The Doxie Flip comes in a rather unspectacular cardboard box with some information about the product, its specifications and box contents on it. There is not much to say about the packaging, apart from the scanner inside being thoroughly protected by a plastic frame. So if you order one, there is no doubt it should reach you safe and sound.

If you ask me, the Doxie Flip also does a very good job in scanning these objects and documents here. However, I do somehow have the feeling that the mobile scanner performs much better on objects and printed documents than on handwritten stuff (pens).

Other interesting features of Mobile Scanner include the ability to perform group scans, as well as to export several documents at the same time. However, it also stands out for the intelligent image optimization, which detects edges and offers the possibility to automatically crop them; the OCR function, capable of recognizing characters or any text in your scans; or the sharing option, to share your scanners through the platform.

Socket Mobile's SocketScan 7 Series, 700 Series and DuraScan Series of barcode scanners connect to your desktop or iPad via Bluetooth and allow you to scan your items wirelessly. The following models are currently supported by Retail POS:

Even when you found a solution for this error I still wanted to share my experience with this library. I'm working since few days with this mentioned library and I have encountered many problems and bugs with this library. For example the GitHub repository examples are accessing to files which are not included in the library.e.g. import 'package:mobile_scanner_example/scanner_error_widget.dart';

The examples are not using only the library also it is using on the main repo some files which are completely missing in the library but which are necessary to get it work.I also get flutter warnings that wrong types are assigned to variables etc. especially in the barcode_scanner_controller.dartI have noticed that the library has missing files and that's the reason why it can't find some functions and classes. I have to add all the missing files by myself and this is actually something what the library should do because that's the reason why a library is made for.

You should use the Socket Mobile S740 or Socket Mobile S720 barcode scanner if you want to scan both 1D and 2D barcodes. You can scan 1D barcodes on products to add them to the cart quickly without browsing your catalog to find them. You can scan 2D barcodes on receipts to quickly find the order associated with that sale.

The scanner connects wirelessly to Shopify POS with Bluetooth, so you can use it at markets, fairs, pop-up locations, or a physical store. It's charged by plugging the included charging cable or cradle into a power socket. When fully charged, the scanner's battery lasts for up to 14 hours (about 15,000 scans).

If you have updated your device to iOS 14 or higher and use third-party Shopify apps, then you might need to enable Cross-Website tracking in your iOS settings. Cross-Website tracking lets third-party Shopify apps that you have installed in your Shopify admin stay connected in Shopify Inbox, Shopify Point of Sale, and the Shopify mobile app.

By default, your barcode scanner tries to connect to the last device it was paired with. If you want to use your barcode scanner with a different Bluetooth device, then you need to unpair the scanner first.

Is the barcode scanner showing as Connected on the Shopify POS Hardware settings screen when the scanner is on and in range? If not, then go to your iPad's Bluetooth settings and forget the barcode scanner, and pair it with your iPad again.

When you paired the scanner and iPad, did you scan the correct barcode in Shopify POS? The 2D barcode sets the barcode scanner to iOS mode to work with your iPad. If you didn't hear the three beeps when you scanned the barcode, or if you accidentally scanned the 1D barcode, then the scanner isn't in iOS mode. Unpair it and the iPad, and then pair them again, making sure that you scan the 2D barcode in Shopify POS and hear the three beeps before you move on to the next step.

Does the scanner recognize any barcodes? Try scanning the barcode of a nearby item that isn't one of your store's products. If your scanner is paired correctly, then you should see an Unrecognized barcode error in Shopify POS. If you see this error, then carry on to the next steps. If you don't see an error, then unpair the scanner and iPad, and pair them again.

Consumables and Accessories physical goods shipping costs range is $3.5-$10 up to $300 and $15 over $300. Scanners processing fee + shipping is $250 per scanner. Some products such as subscriptions, may offer free shipping. We currently ship to US and Canadian clinics only. All prices are in US dollars. When shipping to Canada, different rates may apply.

Set up a Socket Mobile S700 barcode scanner for use with Lightspeed Restaurant by putting the scanner into iOS mode and pairing it with an iOS device running the Restaurant POS app. After setting up a scanner, add barcodes to products in Restaurant Manager so employees can use the scanner to add those items to orders.

As for how to manage the contacts once you input them with the scanner, we can edit them once they're in and change properties and add them to lists. It may not be super fluid on mobile, but I've used the app to change properties. For example, if you plan ahead of time you could create an active list where the criteria is "added these dates by this user" so that anyone you add during an event gets put into a list. Then this list could trigger the workflow. Hopefully that helps spark an idea or two for you.

Hi Dan - your insights are very helpful! I'm in a boat similar to Melissa's and I think the way you set up an active list to pull anyone who has been imported via offline->business-card-scanner is great. I followed all of your steps and the problem is that this only works for a contact that has never been entered into the system (i.e. their true original source is from the business card). Occasionally we have sales reps going to meetups or events and talking with people for the first time, but it's not the first time they've ever been in contact with our business. As in, they may have visited our website in the past, attended a webinar, or even chatted with someone else, so they exist in the system. When we use the business card scanner app, and if a contact already exists, the business card scanner forces a merge. Once the merge happens, there is no trace of the business card scan being an original source. Do you have any ideas for how we can still capture leads/contact info from reps at events that may already exist in our system? Is there another way to pull the business-card-scanner property into a list other than Original Source?
