And because the editing in Resolve will result in having to make minor adjustments to the reframed clips I need to go back and forth between insta360 Studio and Resolve by making minor changes to the reframing, export those clips to be imported in Resolve and make them fit until I like the result.

You need some stitching application that support fish eye lens. You may also do better taking 5 images up down and 3 horizontally at 120 degrees from each other for better overlap. Also check the Camera manufactures site to see what Firmwate and software downloads they have for you camera. insta360 evo

This is issue with insta360 one r firmware or insta360 studio. Your not alone. I have even attempted to edit in bridge and just save it into orginal file. That just dropes the orginal images down several stops. Camera is new, so I assume updates should fix this issue soon.

I contacted insta360 provided them examples, and they got back to me with a link to a beta version of insta360 studio 2020 that corrected this issue. They are aware and have seemed to have fixed the DNG issue.

I have a Insta360 video recorded on an Insta360 One X, and I'm trying to get it to display correctly. The video was displaying and exporting without difficulty until I updated Insta360 studio to 2021 (v4.0.0), and displayed correctly on my phone through the bluetooth connection to the camera.

Now insta360 gives me a flickery illegible mostly black screen as a preview -- basically acting like the video is unreadable. I back-updated Insta360 Studio to v3.6.8 and then it displays as a distorted and badly stitched video, seemingly only through one of the two camera lenses. There's a second mystery video file, seemingly recorded simultaneously, that displays in Insta360 studio as a monocular fish-eye with no manipulation options in Insta360 Studio.

The problem was I had renamed the files at the same time as updating Insta360 studio. The camera produces a pair of files, one for each lens, and has a naming convention that lets Insta360 studio pair and stitch them. The naming convention is underscore delimited, and requires the same pattern of underscores as the camera-generated file name. Also, the files have to have the same name except for having "00" and "10" in the right place in the pattern. Below is my tabulation of insta360 studio behavior with different file names. Correct display requires four underscores in the pattern of "p_q_r_00_s.insv" and "p_q_r_10_s.insv", where at least p,q,r,s can be empty or text containing spaces. So some text followed by three underscores, then "00_.insv" / "10_.insv" works.

Limited export quality.
While you can get most features with the free DaVinci Resolve download, one big limitation is that your exports will be limited to 4K for reframing 360 videos this is okay. Since your end result is unlikely to be any higher than that anyway. But for VR videos when you are exporting at much higher resolutions, using the free version of Resolve will significantly reduce your export quality, which is where the cost becomes a con as well as a pro. To unlock higher resolution exports and other higher level features you'll need to pay a few hundred dollars for DaVinci Resolve studio. For a professional video editor this is expected but it is a bit steep for beginners just starting out.
