The idea is to meet these people in authority and convey the general grievance about the apathy in all colleges towards taking cognizance of sexual harassment cases and following the due process as made available in Vishaka Guidelines or Act, 2013 or doing anything for gender sensitization in
campuses. And more particularly take up the case
of Josephine and demand that appropriate action be taken. The redrafted statement conveys the same.
The point is to keep the extra-dialogue open (as it seems necessary in these kind of issues) with the administration without being anti-legal or affecting the case being pursued in the court in any way.
This is an outcome of the meeting at Prof. Saraswati's house on 5.4.2014. The ones who were able to attend were Josephine, Bhaskar, Deepa, Aparajay, Prof. Saraswati, Prof. Shivkumar and Advocate Pandimadevi. It was proposed that we meet the Director of Education, Secretary, Vice Chancellor - Madras University and Principal, Loyola College. We apprised them of earlier drafting of statement and finalization of it after due consultation.
Looking forward to your solidarity and co-operation and thanking you,
Campaign for Gender Rights and Sexual Justice
