The showing will feature works representing the untold stories of the African American community using dance as a lens and are choreographed and performed by current dance education majors in the theatre and dance department. This performance is in collaboration with the African American Studies Program.

You know them as X-Men, X-Force, the New Mutants, or simply Mutants. But what do mutants fight for? Are they heroes, or villains? Is Deadpool merely a clown? Why are they feared by non-Mutants, loathed by some government officials? At this Cultural Event, you'll learn about how comics are made, how real life and historical events impact comics, and the real people who bring these stories to life.

Coordinated by The Department of Fine Arts and the African American Studies Program

Admission: Free and open to public

Visual artist Asa Jackson will be speaking about his colorful large-scale textile pieces which are constructed from African fabric and recycled clothing. His globally-inspired works reference the lived experiences of diverse populations through their visual power and the lens of African spirituality.
