Subject: Reminder: 17TH Annual PORC/LHORBA Ride & Picnic: 9-26-21

All,

The 17TH Annual PORC/LHORBA Ride & Picnic Day at Laurel Mt , Forbes State Forest is on and only two days away: Sunday September 26th!

We were waiting to be sure that the trails would dry out enough by Sunday before sending out this reminder. John Nicholson, who is LHORBA’s Key Person for Laurel Mt., feels that they should de dried out and in good shape by Sunday.

Here are the details:

When: Sunday September 26th, 2021. Meet at 10:30AM. We will be butts on saddle pedaling at 11:00AM.

Where: The Mainline Parking lot at Laurel Mt,  Forbes State Forest

Directions: Coming from Jennerstown on Rt.30 West, make a left on Summit Road, or make a right on Summit Road if you are on Rt. 30 East coming from Ligonier (signs for the Ski Resort ). Two miles from Rt.30 the road will turn to dirt. The Mainline Parking Lot will be on your left (the entrance to the ski resort is on your right across Summit Rd from this parking lot).

The Rides: We will have several mountain biking ride groups going out. The rides will vary in distance and pace so there should be a ride for everyone.

The Food: As we have done for the past PORC/LHORBA picnics everyone should bring their own protein course. Bob Bannon of PORC will be providing a grill for all to use. Bob also brings tables for food people bring to share.

Beverages: Alcohol is permitted in Forbes State Forest. Feel free to bring your own non-alcoholic or adult beverages.

Chairs: This is a nice wooded setting for hanging out with friends after a ride so bring a camp chair or folding chair and plan on sticking around after the ride.

The trails at Laurel Mt are as good as it gets in PA and the party in the parking lot afterwards is a great time.

This is LHORBA’s longest running ride and picnic event so you won’t want to miss it!
