Past storytellers include some of the area's most entertaining school bus drivers, mushroom hunters, politicians, socialites, sex workers, musicians, authors, systems analysts, and social workers. Joel Kim Booster is a Chicago-bred Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian, writer, and actor. He is best known for writing and starring in Searchlight Pictures’ "Fire Island" which, following its June 2022 release, went on to land him two Emmy nominations along with a "Best First Screenplay" nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards. The multi-hyphenate has also been seen starring opposite Maya Rudolph in the Apple TV+ comedy series "Loot", which recently premiered its third season. He recently lent his voice to Sony Pictures Animation’s "K-Pop: Demon Hunters", one of the biggest animated hits of the year, further showcasing his versatility as a performer. His first hour-long comedy special, "Joel Kim Booster: Psychosexual", exploring his experiences and observations as a gay Asian American male with commentary on identity, sexuality, cultural expectations, and more, debuted on Netflix in 2022. The special was nominated for a Critics Choice Award and named one of the best comedy specials of 2022 by Variety. He also appears in Freeform’s "Chrissy & Dave Dine Out", which follows Chrissy Teigen and David Chang, who, along with Joel, cracked the restaurant scene wide open in Los Angeles. Joel can also be seen in a guest star role in the latest season of "Industry" (HBO) and will be in the "Scrubs" reboot for ABC premiering in 2026. Joel also is the host for the Smartless podcast "Bad Dates", where he invites his friends to share their most iconic dating fiascos.
Jo Firestone is a comedian and writer based in New York City. She co-hosts the long-running podcast, "Dr. Gameshow", with Manolo Moreno. Firestone is also the author of the stupidest murder mystery novel of all time, "Murder on Sex Island". Select credits include "Ziwe", "Joe Pera Talks With You", "Teenage Euthanasia", "The Tonight Show", and "Shrill".
Tara Jepsen is a writer and comic living in Los Angeles. Her novel "Like a Dog" was published by Sister Spit/City Lights. She co-hosted legendary queer literary open mic, "K’vetsh", for over ten years.
Kevin McDonald is a comedian, actor, writer and director who founded "The Kids in the Hall" with friend Dave Foley, after they met in Toronto at Second City. The television series ran from 1988–1995. In the troupe's television series and stage shows, he portrays several popular recurring characters, such as the King of Empty Promises, Sir Simon Milligan, and Jerry Sizzler. McDonald went on to appear in a variety of films including "Boy Meets Girl", "Lilo & Stitch", "Lilo & Stitch: The Series", and "Epic Movie".
On television, he has appeared on "The Martin Short Show", "Ellen", "That '70s Show", "Seinfeld", "Friends", "NewsRadio", "MADtv", "Arrested Development", and "Corner Gas". McDonald has also done voice work for various animated series, including Nickelodeon's "Invader Zim", "The Angry Beavers", "Catscratch", and "Clerks: The Animated Series". He also played an imaginary friend named Ivan in the episode "Sight For Sore Eyes" on "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends", appeared in the music video for "Roses" by Outkast, and made an appearance in "Tim and Eric's Awesome Show".
Terrence “TK” Moyer is a San Francisco–based comedian, storyteller, and Navy veteran with over 15 years of experience performing across the U.S. and internationally. His work blends sharp humor with vulnerability, drawing from real life, service, and survival to create stories that are both hilarious and deeply human. TK has written for television, produced live comedy shows for a decade, and is the founder of Stellar Comedy Productions. He is the author of Survivor’s Guilt: A Memoir in Verse, a narrative poetry collection examining trauma, healing, and self-acceptance. Whether on stage or on the page, TK’s work is rooted in honesty, heart, and connection.
