As Link, players can perform actions such as running, climbing, swimming, and gliding with a paraglider, although Link is limited by his stamina.[5] Link can procure items from the environment, including weapons, food, and other resources. Unlike previous Zelda games, weapons and shields degrade through use, eventually shattering.[5] Many items have multiple uses; for example, wooden weapons can light fires, wooden shields can collect incoming enemy arrows, and shields can be used as makeshift snowboards.[5] Players can obtain food and materials for elixirs from hunting animals, gathering wild fruit, or collecting parts of defeated enemies.[6] By cooking combinations of food or materials, the player can create meals and elixirs that can replenish Link's health and stamina, or provide temporary status bonuses such as increased strength or resistance to heat or cold.[6] An important tool in Link's arsenal is the "Sheikah Slate", a magical stone tablet which can be used to mark waypoints on the in-game map and take pictures of materials, creatures, and enemies. These pictures are stored in an in-game compendium that can be used to locate valuable items. The Sheikah Slate also gives the player the ability to create remote bombs, manipulate metal objects, form ice blocks on watery surfaces, and temporarily stop objects in time.[8][9][10] In combat, players can lock onto targets for more precise attacks, while certain button combinations allow for advanced offensive and defensive moves.[11] Players may also defeat enemies without weapons, such as by rolling boulders off cliffs into enemy camps.[12]

But as Link soon learns, Hyrule has changed during his slumber. One hundred years ago, a great evil known as the Calamity Ganon appeared and ravaged the land. Unable to be defeated, Princess Zelda sealed herself and it away in Hyrule Castle to keep it at bay, while a mortally wounded Link was sent to the Shrine of Resurrection so he could one day return to save Hyrule. The kingdom fell into ruin and nature slowly reclaimed what had been destroyed, and society has been reduced to a few scattered areas across near-empty lands filled with both wildlife and monsters.

Replaying now in 5k 60 fps and loving this playthrough more than the first. I have to say it looks utterly breathtaking like this, it was a beautiful game but it's hard to explain how much that beauty is given more room to shine with a visual bump. It's like playing a 4k ghibli film. I know Nintendo don't do cutting edge graphics power- but I hope they are investing in some AI upscaling solutions, everyone deserves to experience this.

Yunno, Breath of the wild Link likes to chew chew, while Spirit Tracks Link likes to choo choo, and their are chuchus!

I swear, on every single Zelda soundtrack you pop up and attack me with all of your Zelda puns?

Contrary to popular belief (as expressed by several comments here), the silence in the main theme around the 1-minute mark is an intentional part of the composition and not a glitch. It also appears in the credits theme and symbolizes Link's first breath after a hundred years of sleep. The composer talked a bit about the main theme in Nintendo's Japanese Zelda blog shortly after the game's release.
Here is an English article summarizing the contents: -nintendo.com/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-latest-official-blog-post-main-theme/

Climb up towers and mountain peaks in search of new destinations, then set your own path to get there and plunge into the wilderness. Along the way, you'll battle towering enemies, hunt wild beasts and gather ingredients for the food and elixirs you'll need to sustain you on your journey.

Players need to be mindful of wasting arrows. Normal and special arrows can be exceptionally useful in hitting enemies from afar, but missing a shot or using the wrong arrow type on a foe is a serious waste of resources. Arrows can be expensive to buy, and aren't always too common in the wild.

Ultrahand was shown off too, which is another new ability that lets you glue objects together. In the demonstration, Link uses this to stick three large logs together to build a makeshift raft. A fan is then added, creating a full-on sailing ship. Objects in the wild can be glued together in this way to create new tools, like flying vehicles and even cars. It's clear that the sky is the limit in terms of crafting in Tears of the Kingdom.
