I hope you will join us for the great annual Westwood Park community July 4 Parade and event, including our neighboring Poplar Heights friends. Please see the details below - and I hope to see you there!
If you haven't attended before, we meet on Fairwood near West St at Frey Ct, and have confirmed a couple fire/rescue trucks and police cars to join us (assuming they aren't needed for a service call). Kids are on bikes, scooters, and riding in wagons or strollers. Around 9:30 or so, we will say the Pledge of Allegiance and start the walk/ride alongside the trucks to Shrevewood Elementary. Neighbors along Fairwood sit out in their yards to cheer on the 'parade' as it comes through the community, and our parade crowd tends to grow as we make our way down the street. Then once at Shrevewood, the trucks hang for a bit, fire/EMS workers and police officers chat with the neighbors, and let everyone check out the trucks! We will have water, watermelon and popsicles at the school for everyone.
Hope you'll join us in your best red, white and blue, and encourage your kids to decorate their rides. I know my son is already pumped to decorate his bike for the ride down Fairwood! It is a great way to connect with one another and with our local fire department/EMS/police who give so much to our community.
Hope to see you there! If you have any questions or would like to help day-of, please email me!
Your July 4 committee,
Elise Ruckert and Lindsey Baker
