What would be an efficient system for improving public health? There are new national efforts to build national learning health system, which could be the answer. IOM did a great study on future learning health system and released a report in 2011. See Digital Infrastructure for the Learning Health System: The Foundation for Continuous Improvement in Health and Health Care - Workshop Series Summary. Recently, Kanter Foundation sponsored the first Learning Health System Summit at the National Press Club, where a privately invited group of people tried to define the principles for building learning health system. Hopefully, we'll hear more from these efforts.
