Does DIYABC also consider positions that are NOT polymorphic? And how to convert Nexus/Fasta into Genepop?

Dear all,

I am quite new to demographic analyses and I was wondering if programs like DIYABC infer a demographic scenario only based on polymorphic positions or if they also takes into account non-variable positions?! Since for example a population contraction leads to a lack of rare & extremly abundant alleles (intermediate freq alleles dominate) I was thinking that the informations from non-polymorphic sites would matter too, no?! Also, is there an easy way to convert sequence alignment (Nexus or Fasta) into Genepop format that is required as input for DIYABC? I already tried PGDSpider, Formatomatic but failed.
Some insights from someone with more experience in demographic modelling would be great! Thank you!

Best wishes,
Belinda

Hi,

I'm afraid I don't know how to use DIY ABC. Maybe someone else in the google groups can help you with that.

Best,
Joao
