Hi,

I'm glad to announce a new release of pomamonitor. The source code
jumped from 78 to 116 lines! The changes are:

1) Now using a conf file instead of requiring the user to make changes
on source code. It should be manually placed in ~/.pomamonitor/
pomamonitor/pomamonitor.conf until we have a standard install method
(e.g. install script or package).
2) If all hosts are online in the first check, the user will be warned
that everything is okay.
3) New flags aimed for CLI usage: --version and --help.
4) Better outputs. Checks (= ping tests) are now counted and the
number of checks will be shown on regular output. The $delay value is
also shown to GUI users on the first check.

We need feature requests! Please, give us a help suggesting a feature
through http://code.google.com/p/pomamonitor/issues/entry

So, want to download the latest pomamonitor version? Just do the
procedure:

0) Let's make sure mercurial is installed (required only for
downloading the up to date version):
For Ubuntu, type the command: sudo aptitude install mercurial
For Mandriva, type the command: urpmi install mercurial (with root
privileges)
For other Linux distributions, just install the package called
'mercurial'.

1) Let's use mercurial to download the latest version of pomamonitor:
Type the command: hg clone https://pomamonitor.googlecode.com/hg/
pomamonitor

2) After the download, let's move the conf file to the correct place:
Type the following commands:
mkdir -p ~/.pomamonitor
mv pomamonitor/pomamonitor.conf ~/.pomamonitor/

3) You need to edit ~/.pomamonitor/pomamonitor.conf to suit it yo your
needs. This file has useful comments and instructions.

4) Now you may want to place pomamonitor.sh in a convenient directory
and give it execution privileges (chmod +x). Do it in the way you
prefer.

5) Using your prefered method, make pomamonitor.sh to run on every
boot. If you use KDE/Gnome/XFCE/, pomamonitor should be started after
this desktop enviroments are loaded.

Thanks for using Poor's Man Monitor,

Kurt Kraut
