Subject: Volunteer at the Winter Shelter

Hello All,

Thanks to those who have already volunteered at the Winter Shelter!

Last winter, during the coldest months, the emergency shelter housed an average of 25 guests a night.  In this rather mild month of November, we have already sheltered as many as 35 guests a night.  Inviting our neighbors in from the cold takes 25 volunteers a night, 175 volunteers a week.  If lots of us volunteer for just one 3 hour shift a month, we can do this!

Next training:
  • Thursday, December 10, 6-9 pm, First United Church, 2420 E. Third St. (behind Promptcare)
If you were at the last training, but have not yet had the opportunity to volunteer, you can sign up at http://interfaithwintershelter.org/volunteer/schedule/

And, if you've been trained, but want some on the job experience ~ just show up for any shift to observe.  That's what I did ... and discovered it's really just about being in community.

Thanks for Caring!
Anne
