Ladies and gentlemen,
We are excited to announce the release of PoolParty 1.1, which is a major simplification of the core architecture. Of the numerous updates, the biggest is the inclusion of chef as the new default dependency provider. This allows use of all chef recipes for configuration management.
Updates to look for in 1.1:
• Chef (from opscode)
• Completely decentralized infrastructure
• Core rewrite of abstraction of dependency providers
• New class-based remoter-bases to make it simpler to add new remoter-bases such as vmware, gogrid, etc.
• Generation of json cloud description
• Internode communication through http
• Abstraction of core functionality into open-source gems
• Cloud expansion and contraction based on decentralized election algorithm
• Simplified keypair loading
• Improved caching and uploading of dependencies
• New, simplified bootstrapping process
• and more
