No text (plain or html) message shown in applemail with message with attachment. OK in outlook

Hi

If I create a message with an attachment I cannot get a version with html and plain text to work with applemail - all that the client shows is the attachment

plain text and attachment is shown ok.

Any ideas? I have tried matching a test message send directly via applemail to no avail

The plain text header;
