Aron,

Thanks for the email, I'm always happy to hear from people using Pony.

Also, I'm including the google group for Pony, so hopefully this can help someone in the future.

Just to clarify, it sounds like the problem is specific to Windows, but works on the Mac.  Also, thanks for the backtrace, that helps a lot.

It looks like Ruby is having trouble opening a socket connection to the smtp server, port 587.

I don't have much experience with Pony under Windows and don't have a Windows machine to test against, so I'll need your help testing and vetting my suggestions.

First, are you running any kind of antivirus software on Windows, or something that would prevent you from opening external socket connections?

Second, are you able to telnet to that address/port?

Third, do you have a tls/ssl library installed?  I would expect a different error, but may be causing the issue.

Thanks and thanks for using Pony!

Hi ben, thanks for taking a moment to read my email and thank you for making the gem,

I was able to get Pony setup and working on my Macbook very quickly over the weekend, unfortunately the computer I need to implement the solution on permanently is my windows 7 machine, I tried all Friday and all today trying to get it to work, do you know of any users who have successfully used your gem while on windows?

I know my companies corporate proxy isn’t blocking smtp.gmail.com because I am able to ping it and get a response, so I’m trying to rule out other possibilities, I have provided a few screenshots and a PDF of the Sinatra error report.

I greatly appreciate your gem and I look forward to spreading the word on it when I get it working on both machines! =]
