I usually download music files with synchronised lyrics embedded. I play them using "musicbee" on my laptop. I was looking for a free music player which can show those lyrics on my OP8. I use normally musicolet , a good app , does everything i want , except it can only show unsynchronised lyrics.

When I was using Windows, I had an application called MiniLyrics which let me display the lyrics of the music files played. The application automatically downloads the lyrics and displays them while the song plays. Is there a similar application in Ubuntu that I could use?

Why have a separate app for lyrics and not have them within the player? Maybe the external app like osdlyrics has a larger database? In fact it is far from matching Clementine's or that of Foobar2000 addons like Lyric Show Panel 3.

Music to its nature has the power to convey emotions, feelings, and messages that words alone cannot. It is a universal language that brings people together. And often, when we listen to our favorite songs, we might want to sing along to the lyrics. This function has become one of the most features that people are looking for while installing music players.

However, did you know that music players for Android can be added manually with some method? This may not sound familiar to you, but it is actually real. If you are a music lover and want to sing along to your favorite songs with lyrics, then this article is for you.

Lark Player is currently one of the hottest music player for Android. This player has a large number of built-in lyrics, which can automatically scan all your local songs and sync the lyrics. Songs with lyrics will carry the Lyrics badge on the app.

At some point in the future this support may be extended to include access to LRC sidecar files and/or synchronisation of lyrics (karaoke-style) but there is no specific timeframe for those new features.

Correct, that is not an option. I can't think of any Android media player that does that to be honest. You'd need to manually download your lyrics and then use a tag editor program to insert your newly found content into the files.

as it shows this conversation was for november 2020 and now its feb 2023 yet app cant show lyric like other normal free music players and its anoying cuse right now even default music players of android like samsung musics and Mi player would show lyric files even in the lock screen and would detect the lines and change each like when singer pass one it ahould be in the app by now its years that i use this app and its not in it please make the update

@saint_lucifer Lyrics (as embedded tags, LRC files, and synchronised to the music) are supported as from build 948, including a new API to allow third-party apps to provide lyrics to Poweramp. Have you read the New Releases forum?

Only indirectly. You could save the contents of the clipboard into a plain text file with the same filename and location as the related music file, but using the extension ".LRC" to indicate it contains lyrics. Then Poweramp will be able to display those lyrics whenever the song is playing.

Poweramp generally doesn't modify files on-the-fly anyway - for both performance and data-integrity reasons. Modifying existing tags manually is possible, but nothing that would occur behind the scenes such as downloaded album artwork, ratings, lyrics, etc. It's a moot point for the time being anyway, as Poweramp has no mechanism to source online lyrics for itself, and currently any third-party solution doesn't provide any data back to Poweramp.

I'm using Omnia and Poweramp, Poweramp is very attractive with the appearance but everytime i want to add the lyrics to the offline music files, i have to use Omnia.
Do you have any plan to add this function ? i will greatly appreciate

@buikhoi2597 There are plans to allow the existing Info/Tags editor facility in Poweramp to modify the Lyrics tag too, which would allow you to paste textual content sourced externally into that field and then save it back into the audio file. I don't know how soon that will be implemented though. PA won't source the lyrics for you though, that would be up to external applications.

So in theory, when support for editing the Lyrics tag via the Info/Tags editor is implemented, it ought to be possible to adjust and save any cached lyrics (previously sourced from the new API) back into the audio file. Do you know if anyone is at the testing stage for supporting the external API yet?

A few months ago I installed Poweramp after not using it for a long time and I was checking the lyrics section, just added, and I don't know what I did, but when I imported my music, they all appeared with synchronized lyrics, just as they appear on Spotify. Then I had to change my phone, but I didn't find the settings I did last time and I no longer have lyrics synced with my music but only static lyrics appear. Can anyone help me by telling me how can I get lyrics back in sync in Poweramp? Thank you

The first two can be either synced (i.e. they contain "[mm.ss.xx]" timecode data saying at what point in the music each line should be displayed) or unsynced (just a text list of the whole song). Online app sourced lyrics are more likely to be unsynced unless the provider is able to use Poweramp's new API interface, which I don't think anything offers as yet.

The various settings that control how lyrics are handled, and the methods used, are in PA Settings=>Look and Feel=>Lyrics. You can turn lyric viewing on and off from the Player Screen via the menu or on-screen button (you can define which option you want to use in the Settings page).

I want a music player that has functions like Music Bee.
Song rating, mark favorite songs, show song data (genre, artist, album, year), shows cover art, lyrics. And I want it to show synchronized lyrics and also lets me edit the lyrics, Music Bee lets the user synchronize the lyrics, this is the one function I miss the most.

Are you using GTK or QT environment?
QT : Clementine still a basic choice. Sayonara is my best choice. You also have Cantata but development just stopped.
GTK : Lollypop is a mush have I think. But GmusicBrowser is the more complete you will find. You can give a try to Rhythmbox too.

Does anyone know some application that may display the lyrics I took time to get into each ID3 tags on my computer screen. I'd like to make some kind of Karaoke with my friends and have a music player display the lyrics in full screen while the songs play. Kind of like the lyrics plugin from WMP, but with my carefully tagged ID3 instead of trying to fetch lyrics on Internet...

Hello poster, I've been adding unsynched lyrics to hundreds of songs. I'd love to be able to add synched lyrics to a couple songs, but honestly, that seems like a lot of work. If you know good and free programs to do that' I'd love to give-it a try. I'll give a try to Minilyrics, since that seems to make me able to do just that.

However, I've been looking for something a little less complex. So as I said earlier, I have hundred of songs properly tagged, with "unsynchedlyrics". With both my tablet and my cellphone, whenever I play the songs, these tagged tunes display the lyrics. However, whenever I play these songs on my computer, I can't get these same lyrics to display as the song play, just like on my cellphone.

The Windows Media Player shows lyrics in the "Currently played" view.
Provided, you have set "Replay>Song texts and subtitles>On (if available)".
Also, the language token of the lyrics has to match the OS language or you have defined a different standard.
Alternatively, you can set the language token to xxx (literally) so that there is no specific language.
You would have to do that with MP3tag.

Do the lryrics just show up or are they displayed synched to the singer/music which is necessary to use for Karaoke or just to follow the text while the artist is singing.
If the leyrics ahow up really synched I don't think that your embedded lyrics are displayed. That could be some lyrics your player gets online from the internet.

Hello, ohrenkino, I've tried what you said. I have a french canadian version. I have a lyrics plugin that got the lyrics off the net. Deactivating both it and minilyrics, I got nothing for 3 Doors Down, a song which I know contains unsynched lyrics, since I did tag-it. This: "Replay>Song texts and subtitles>On (if available)" is set correctly. Tried setting language to "xxx" changed nothing.

Nope, these aren't lyrics from online. Let's say I extract a song from one of my cd and put-it on my cellphone, it is tagged wrong and shows up with no cd cover picture and no lyrics. Once I manually enter both information, I get to see them in my cellphone. The lyrics just show-up, with no synch.

I can scroll down to read-em, but my cell screen is small and I can't see myself having a karaoke while reading on my cell screen. Also, my tablet's display is even smaller than my cellphone's, for some reason. So I'd like to be able to just use the unsynchedlyrics I manually entered. Reason is some of these songs are far from being pop and their lyrics won't auto display with regular "fetch on the internet" type of plugin.
