This actually performs fine except in one case: when you click on a PDF link on this app and it downloads to the browser, then opens the PDF in a new tab instead of system viewer (if that is the user's browser setting). Then when closing the tab and going back to the app's tab, it spends an inordinate amount of time on resize logic (normal resize logic timing from click dragging window corner is 1-3s, this is like 15-20s)

I'm using the most recent version of Google Chrome (34.0.1847.131 at the time of writing) on OS X 10.8.5, and for a few months I've been having intermittent issues resizing browser windows. There doesn't seem to be any pattern as to why this issue occurs sometimes but not other times.

I'll move my cursor over the right side of the window, then click and drag the window to a smaller size. However, when I let go of the mouse button (or in this case the trackpad) and move the cursor, Chrome continues to resize the window as I move. When this happens, I am unable to click on anything in any of Chrome's windows, and if I switch focus to another program, I am unable to bring Chrome back into focus (unless I minimize all other windows that are in the way.) The only way to stop it from resizing is to Force Quit Chrome entirely, and go back into it.

What I normally do is manually resize the window, and figure out where various breakpoints occur outside of the normal device resolutions. I use the site to tell me how big my browser currently is, and it works pretty good for me. Works on localhost and the live Web. Two things to be aware of if you use this: you have to refresh the page each time you want the size of the browser window, it doesn't adjust dynamically. The other thing is I add about 20 pixels to whatever it says and that ends up being accurate, I'm not sure if that's just my own personal computer or what. Hope that helps somewhat.

After restarting my mac the bottom of the Chrome window is way below the view of the screen so I can't change its height. I've tried 'alt + shift + click' dragging the sides of the window but that doesn't work. I've also tried 'Window > Zoom' but that only fits it to screen, and it can't get any smaller.

We understand from your post that you are not able to resize the Chrome window. With Chrome open, click View from the menu in the upper left corner of your Mac. Then see if it says Enter Full Screen or Exit Full Screen. If it says Exit Full Screen, click that and it should then allow you to adjust the size of the Chrome window.

You can also resize the Chrome window using the title bar. To do this, click and hold the title bar at the top of the window and then drag it to the desired size. You can also use the edges of the window to resize it.

The maximize window option will make the Chrome window occupy the entire screen. This is useful if you want to have the maximum amount of space available for viewing the webpage. You can also use the maximize window option to make the Chrome window fit the size of the monitor.

The full screen option will make the Chrome window occupy the entire screen, while the maximize window option will make the Chrome window fit to the size of the monitor. The full screen option is useful if you want to have the maximum amount of space available for viewing the webpage, while the maximize window option is useful if you want to have the Chrome window fit the size of the monitor.

Yes, there is a way to restore the window to its original size. Simply click the dotted icon located in the upper right corner of the window, then click the Restore Down option. This will restore the window to its original size.

No, resizing the Chrome window does not cause any changes to the webpage. The webpage will remain the same regardless of how the Chrome window is resized. The webpage will only be affected if the webpage is zoomed in or out.

I can no longer resize this window horizontally - it is either maximised, or a window over 16000 pixels wide. I can change the height of it though. Previously, I had it take up the top half of a vertical monitor. I do not want to have to drag it across my ultrawide screen 5 times just to reach the other side of a web page.
