The RU-SM16 is the ideal choice in most applications where audio level metering is to be designed into a system, or added to existing equipment. The RU-SM16 has two separate line-level inputs. Each input permits the connection of either balanced or unbalanced, high or low impedance audio lines. All connections are made using full-size barrier block terminals.
Jumpers on the rear panel allow the installer to set each meter individually for either peak or average audio level display. In stereo applications, either peak or average is typically selected. In monaural installations, it may be advantageous to feed the mono source to both meters, setting one for peak and the other for average. In either mode the upper three LEDs (+10, +14, +18) remain in the PEAK HOLD mode.
The TX-A2D is the ideal choice in installations requiring passive isolation and level attenuation between a professional balanced line-level stereo source and consumer equipment unbalanced inputs.
The TX-A2D is a complete unbalanced stereo line-level audio output module. The front panel provides a detachable terminal block for connecting each channel of a balanced +4 dBu audio source. The input signals are coupled to two front-panel gold plated phono jacks through studio-quality isolation transformers. Each output is coupled through an attenuation network that produces a nominal -10 dBV level. Shielding is provided by the TX-A2D's heavy duty aluminum enclosure.
Wherever professional format audio signals need to be converted to an unbalanced line level, the TX-A2 and TX-A2D are an ideal choice. Use them individually or in conjunction with other RDL products as part of a complete audio/video system.
But there comes a crossroads in any audiophile's journey (or fledgling music lover tentatively looking into it as a lifestyle choice) when the simple and reasonable question is posed: "Come on, which of these would you have if money were no object?"
Just as the proof of the pudding is in the eating, the proof of any hi-res audio player is in the listening. Both of these propositions walk all over your smartphone. But the SP3000 is three times the price and, I have to tell you, it is emphatically worth it in the sound-per-pound stakes.
