Aftermy third controller broke down and I was really sick of

send every month a controller to Microsoft, I dissassembled my controller and tried to figured out what happend always to my left stick, because the problem was always the same.

I dont know how durable this fix will be, because I could only test it about two weeks, yet. But until now it seems to be good and maybe I will try this on my next new controller, I think it avoid them for breaking, too.

Then desolder the wires from the rumble motors ( red and black wires), and from the rumble

motors in the triggers ( grey and black wires ). After that screw off the two screws shown in the 2nd picture, then you can remove the board carefully.

If you removed the board, look up your broken thumbstick. There must be a grey piece of plastic at one side of the stick module. It is on the left side of the module, if you look on the board from above, like shown in the first picture.

When you locate that grey plastic piece, move the thumbstick a bit around and look if the grey plastic moves. When it moves or there is space between the grey plastic and the metal square, it must be fixed. I used superglue to fix it. You must put it in the space between the grey plastic and the metal, but be very carefully, if you use too much glue, it could be damage the button under the grey plastic, which is the button when you press the thumbstick down.

Hey there! We know how joystick issues can affect your VR gaming experience. We'd love to help you out and get you back in the game! Since you've already tried several troubleshooting options, you'll want to reach out to our support team here for some additional one-on-one assistance.

No worries at all, we're more than happy to walk you through the process! Since the Quest is no longer listed please continue under "Meta Quest 2" instead. You'll select "Left controller", "Thumbstick", "Thumbstick unresponsive (NG)", "This does not solve my issue", and you'll then be able to choose your method of contact with our team. We hope this helps!

He my friend. I see Meta Support is helping you and I don't want to step on their toes or give advice that may go contrary but I just dealt with this issue myself. If you look around on youtube you will see it is very common for the transducer part of the controller (the joystick part) to stop working and lose calibration after only 6 months of solid game play. The controllers are very solid pieces of equipment but the electronics in the joystick are paper thin and get damaged pretty fast. The way I see it You have 3 options available because yeah...It will never fully work right again:

2. If you are good with electronics, don't have fat fingers and can follow directions there are VERY GOOD how to replace the joystick videos on youtube (I followed one step by step and replaced my joystick!) You can buy a replacement package for right around 15 dollars on amazon. But understand. If you do it, you also take a chance of breaking the controller. Mine was so bad I took the risk and it paid off.

3. By a set of new controllers from the store. If you have 75 buck for one it is the fastest and safest option. Sorry this is happening to you. But really once you get to the point where it wont calibrate even on the software calibration page...Your thumb stick is a dead stick.

Thanks for sharing the voice of experience. I'm probably going to go route #2 with #3 as a backup. I didn't realize that we can buy replacement controllers. Nice to have that in the back pocket if I end up messing up the controller. Will chime in here when I have some results!

Please do let me know how it goes. Let me link you to this guy. He is the man I watched tear down the controller and he gives pretty good step by step in how to replace the joystick...but you may need to watch a couple of his videos for the full "idea" of what you are in for. Just let me warn you ahead of time there are very small and paper thin sensors and ribbon connections in that controller...You have to be really delicate. But if you are, you can save yourself a little money. So far I have replaced a joystick and bought a controller so I have experience with both #2 and #3 options. Good luck: The video: ---> =mDLT1LdX_ag

Hi. The wire between the board and connector of the joystick is broken. So I am doubting if there are options to fix that. If I can buy the full cable + connectors on both sides. It could be possible. But I think space is very limited. So bid hard to replace. Has somebody experience if this is possible and where to get the parts?

The same thing just happen to me too. Push buttons suddenly started acting weird as i moved the stick around, then i saw this thread, so i took the DIN out to check, but the space is extremely tight, i couldn't tell if any cable is disconnected, i reinstalled the DIN and this time no button works, so i guess it was indeed the DIN connector. Is there a way somehow i can take it out of the base so i can solder the wires until TM support replies?

EDIT: fixed it. it was indeed one cable from the DIN connector cut.

And it has not updated for 10 weeks and I only get Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Joystick BULK version

and the drivers are from 2 4 2011. Some on the Web say drivers are not needed ?

You cannot contact TM by phone and cust svc is pretty bad at answering questions, but not as much as Microsoft is now...

Admittedly, I've not tested it on your specific model but IF your monitor supports DDI/DDC and you want to set basic things like brightness and colour, ClickMonitorDDC works. Its portable so its pretty easy to test

I sprayed WD-40 generously inside the joystick cavity and tried as much as I could with the long spray nozzle to get behind the joystick. I then moved the joystick in circular motion and pressed it while still wet. Works as good as new now.

Go around the edges of the casing and use small hard plastic tools to get a grip and free the Monitor from the casing, then just readjust the JOG button. Test before putting everything back together and done! No screws and you can finally use the button again and use the setting or whatever.

Now I would have assumed that this piece was somewhere loose in the controller but I can't find it anywhere, and nothing fell out when I took it apart. Seems weird to me that it could have somehow wiggled out of the controller at any point because it isn't THAT small. Maybe I'm just blind.

Anyway, was hoping someone might be able to point me to a replacement piece, because while I know how to solder, I don't really WANT to replace the whole joystick, plus don't have the money for the replacement.

Alright, so ultimately since you can't seem to buy just that part, I bought $10 replacement sticks and just took that part off one of them. It just popped right out easy peasy. When snapping it into my original joystick however, while it fit perfectly, the joystick was lifting it up. Leads me to believe it wasn't actually the gray piece that failed but something to do with the casing of the joystick?

Anyway, I took some gorilla glue and a sewing needle and very carefully applied a small amount of glue underneath the gray piece as well as along its sides. Held it firmly in place for about 2 minutes and it stayed. I then applied a little more glue to the top of the little bracket.

Seems to have worked! We'll see if the glue stands the test of time though and keeps the piece in it's proper place!

I tried to connect my xbox controller to my MacBook, even though the controller is registered in bluetooth setting, but it doesn't function at all.Have anyone met the same problem and if there's a fix for this problem

We appreciate your feedback in the Developer Forums. We believe this issue is already resolved in macOS 12.3.1. If you are still seeing this issue, please submit a feedback report to ensure the issue can be investigated by the relevant engineering teams. You can do so from the Feedback Assistant app or Feedback Assistant website.

I'm not entirely sure why this happens, it happens intermittently for me. The last attempt I took was Delete the controller, Turn off Bluetooth, Restart, Reconnect Controller- but while I was reconnecting there was a phantom controller that popped up that showed the original controller connected, but I could not disconnect it through the Mac, I turned the controller off and the phantom controller popped back down to the unknown devices and upon entering bluetooth mode on my ps4 controller the phantom controller was identified as a ps4 controller and I was able to connect and use the controller again to play games. I hope this helps!

I still have a weird issue, but like I said on my iPhone, my Xbox controller will connect, and then make the Virtual Controller disappear indicating that the Controller is connected (at least). But nothing functions from the Xbox controller. Then turn off controller and Virtual Controller comes back on... (the controller is there in the debug info, Mac too if I am not mistaken).

Also experiencing the same issue. My Nimbus + Controller won't work with Apple Arcade after updating to Monterey 12.3. I'm able to connect via bluetooth, but none of the buttons work. I'm sure there are a lot of Mac Gamers with the same issue and hopefully Apple fixes this soon.

Looks like two games I tested have broken controller support. Both of them are Unity games using the InControl framework. I tried three controllers with each: An Xbox Series X controller, a DualShock 4 controller, and a Stadia Pro controller connected via USB, which appears as a generic controller with vaguely Xinput like features.

Just adding my experience to the list in the hopes this gets addressed. I have tried three different bluetooth controllers (XBOX One, PS5 DualSense, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller) and the issue is the same across all 3. Bluetooth has no problem connecting the controllers to my M1 MacBook Pro, pressing the Home buttons on each controller brings up a game selection bar, and I can use the controller to select games. However, regardless of which game I select, once I am in-game, no controller input works except the Home button to bring the game selection menu back up. No issues prior to the Monterey 12.3 Update.
