FORT COLLINS, Colo. , Aug. 25, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Building upon a decade of its popular Defender Series cases, OtterBox introduces its first industrial use-focused solution - Defender Series Division 2 cases for iPhone 11, 12, 13 and iPad mini (6th generation). Certified by UL Solutions, Defender Series Division 2 cases offer device protection from heavy use in certain hazardous industrial settings, which can help improve worksite safety by mitigating explosive hazards that may be present in these harsh environments.

"Mobile technology at the worksite keeps workers connected to their colleagues, systems and tasks. If that technology is damaged, safety can be put at risk, processes collapse and productivity stalls," said Brian Jacoby, senior vice president of OtterBox Business Solutions. "Designed for superior protection, seamless connection and maximum efficiency, and certified by UL Solutions, Defender Series Division 2 cases safely help teams stay connected and systems operate smoothly in challenging hazardous environments."

Ideal for use in industries such as oil and gas, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, aviation and designated class facilities where chemicals, dust and heavy machinery are present, Defender Series Division 2 cases are engineered for demanding, industrial-grade use. Features include MIL-STD 810G drop testing, multi-layer protection, port covers, a holster and easily identifiable UL Mark to let workers know the case is ready to perform.

"The Defender Series has protected so many devices across the globe, and now that same proven protection is available for industrial applications," Jacoby said. "With numerous UL certifications focused on alleviating hazards, we've created a case that can not only protect critical devices, but also enhance the safety of the hardworking men and women who use them."

Does anyone else have this problem? I have been using my Otterbox Symmetry Series 360 Elite Case for iPad for about a month now, and the Apple Pencil storage part won't stay attached to the case. It has tabs that snap back in, but it takes considerable pressure to get them in there, and they tend to snap right back out when I do get them in the slots. Just picking up my case (not by the tray, but while touching it) is enough to pull the tray right off. It's utterly pointless like this. I have also written to Otterbox, but wondered if I'd find some tips here.

I had the same issue. I found that if took the iPad out of the case, I could better snap the pencil holder back in (all four clips). Snapping it back on with the iPad in the case was next to impossible. It's worked well so far! Hope it will work for you as well.

Like AveCesare said, I had to take my ipad out of the case to snap it back in. The clips kept undoing, though, and I just couldn't apply enough force until I set it on the table and used something to press down on each side of each clip to fully lock them in. If you don't have strong hands, I definitely recommend using a tool (I grabbed pliers because I was going to try to squeeze them in, but they wouldn't squeeze over the side of the pencil holder so I just pressed using the nose of the pliers and it worked fine).

Yes I brought this case for my iPad Pro. Within a month the pencil holder fell off, had it replaced and the same thing. Such a fault in the case and would make me reconsider ever buying this brand again. The clips are near impossible to get back into place. Such a disappointment to be honest.

This REALLY sucks! I do not understand. Square offers a great product and Otterbox offers a very desirable and I believe needed case for my Iphone. HOWEVER, as I am sure that you are aware, your reader and the Otterbox case do not gel. I had to take my phone out of the protection of the case in order to use your reader and guess what... after 6 years of pristine phones, I have a useless chunk of metal thanks to the lack of compatible products between Apple, Square and Otterbox. I tried extensions, to no avail. Bad!!! business decision on all your parts. I've purchased a chip reader so what am I to do about sliding a customers card? Please, give me a real answer, better yet, someone change the product to match the compatibility issues. I know from reading other people's comments that this is a widespread problem. Is anyone going to do the right thing?

When will Square come out with a longer connector or extension for the reader to be compatible with phone cases? Because of this annoying problem, I am now asking customers to pay with check or cash. So Square is losing money until a solution can be found.

@MicroTech While we don't currently have a timeline for creating an extender, I'll be happy to pass along this to our product team. In the meantime, check out the reader that Spenser suggested above so you won't need to take off your phone case at all and your business will be protected from the liability shift.

Go out and about with confidence with OtterBox Defender Series, the protective iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro case that delivers legendary defense. Its multi-layer construction guards your device from serious drops, dirt, scrapes and bumps, while still being compatible with wireless charging. Plus, the included holster doubles as a belt clip or hands-free kickstand.

The OtterBox Defender Case has three layers: a plastic holster, a rubber slipcover, and a hard plastic shell. Each layer is removable. To remove the plastic holster, the outermost layer, unclip each of the four corners one at a time. Next, peel the rubber slipcover away from the plastic casing. If you're struggling to get underneath the cover, undo the flap covering the charging port and pull the small rubber tab away from the device. You will then be able to slide your finger underneath all edges. Finally, unclip the case's frame from the rear using the clips on the underside of the remaining plastic case. These clips sit along both sides and the top and bottom of the phone. Once you release the clips, the frame and the back cover will separate from the phone.
