June 20th: World Refugee Day
Every year on June 20, the United Nations and its specialized agencies mark World Refugee Day. This year, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) will hold its annual commemoration event at the National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C. Angelina Jolie, the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Antonio Guterres, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton will appear at the event, the theme of which is "Real People, Real Needs." i-ACT Live Stream from Djabal Refugee Camp
i-ACT is an advocacy organization that harnesses the power of video and the internet. As part of the Sister Schools Program, i-ACT recently traveled to eastern Chad to set up video connections between U.S. schools and Darfuri refugee camp schools.
