Hello everyone,

After reading about polyphasic sleep for some time, I decided that
such a schedule would work great for, and started my adaptation on
14th of December.

I also decided to write detailed logs of everything I experience. I've
read a lot from other bloggers, and I felt that giving something back
to the community would be nice. However, I thought that instead of
daily logs it would make much more sense to write Cycle/Phase logs,
i.e. a new entry on each new 4 hours cycle, 6 entries per day.

In any case, I created a dedicated blog only for these logs here:
http://schneidera.com/polyphase/

I write an entry every cycle before going to sleep, and then after I
am waking up I am updating it with my napping experience. I found that
it helps me wake up at once, since I always have something to do. :)

Also I am not proofreading my entries yet, so you can easily judge
when I am in zombie mode by the typos. :D

I hope that my adaptation logs can be useful for someone who wants to
try it out as well. I am going to continue writing there until I am
adapted.

The lesson from many great attempts at logging is unfortunately that most people stop writing one day and the community learns nothing from their mistakes. It's great that you're doing this, and i really hope you will succeed, just try to tell, if you fail in one way or another, what you did wrong, so future adopters may succeed :-)
Good luck from one that've logged every minute slept for more than a year. =P

Thanks John!

Yes, I agree with you concerning the necessity of good detailed logs.
I am planning to do it through all the adaptation period. For one
thing, I am always recording such unusual experiences in my diary for
future reference and here I just thought that making it public can be
useful for the community of polysleepers.

Right now I try to put as much information as possible (as I
experienced/remembered) in each entry that I write. Because I am
logging each individual phase, at some times I have to do it in a
zombie like state. :) Later on, when I end the logging (i.e. when I
either succeed or fail) I plan to rewrite the logs in a short guide/
overview of my experience. :) So I guess it would be either "25 things
you must do in order to convert to Uberman" or "25 things you must
avoid doing in order to convert to Uberman". The point being that
analysis of the failures can give as much useful information as a full
guide to success.

Right now I just started my 6th day on the schedule (1:52am currently)
I managed not to screw up even a single time, though I have to admit I
was close a couple of times. What a heck, today's morning I was
walking my dog and falling asleep while still continuing moving
forward:
"I just lost control over my body every minute or so for about 5-10
seconds. I wasn’t crashing on the ground, but kept on moving, BUT in
the direction I was facing. Basically, there were a couple of times
when the trail took a turn, but my brain turned the auto pilot before
the turn, and in 10 seconds I am opening my eyes staying in the deep
snow 5 meters from the trail. Completely surreal experience!"

I really hope that my experience will help others. As for me, maybe I
didn't do my research well enough, because some of the things I've
experienced already in my adaptation are so unreal, that 5 days ago I
wouldn't even believe it is possible.

Thanks again for your encouragement!

Great log. I did exactly the same but I wrote it in spanish.
I read the last cycles and you are experimenting exactly the same as
me (I smiled when read that you were sleeping while walking the dog,
because I remembered going out for a walk with my girlfriend, who was
doing Uberman with me, one morning and falling sleep as I walk while
she was hitting the garbage bins walking sleep too.
I ended not being able to avoid constant microsleeps to the point that
the microsleeps were longer than the awake time between them, I wish
you better luck. I will follow your blog while attemping a 4.5h core
everyman adaptation.

Thanks for your support and opinion!

What do you mean by microsleeps? The very same thing that happened to
me when I was walking my dog , i.e. falling asleep uncontrollably and
then waking up a minute or 2 later with a start? To my current
knowledge and experience the only way to get rid of this is to be
active. I know, the problem happens when you are the most tired, and
therefore any physical activity doesn't look good. I've been caught in
this trap a couple of times already!

How many days where into Uberman? I was told that I need to prepare
for at least 10 days of all this fun brain tricks. :)

Also concerning the language of the logs... I am Russian myself, and
therefore it would be simpler to write the logs on Russian. That is
something I was planning in the beginning actually, because I intended
the logs only for personal use to analyze my performance. Then I
thought something like "It would be really cool if someone would log
each and every Uberman cycle in detail for at least a month... A lot
of people, including me, would benefit greatly from it".

So, since I was going to write everything anyway, it was only a little
bit extra work to do it online and to do it on English. Really hope
that people will find my experience helpful!

Cheers!

Exactly, but within seconds. On my final stages I was walking up and
down the corridor closing eyes, sleeping for seconds, opening them for
seconds before they go shut again for another microsleep continuosly
till I just gave up. I was playing tenis table on the wii, and that
worked fine for some days, but afterwards I was just too tired to
play.

I was 13, but had 3 major oversleeps (between 5-7 hours) on days 3, 7
and finally 13. For oversleeps I mean not being able too keep awake
and falling sleep, not actually oversleeping a nap, that is something
that I never did.

I agree. I´m writing my current atempt of a gradual adaptation in
english on trypolyphasic.com. It's far more active this days than this
group that's almost dead. Leave your log there too. It will be very
useful.

Oi, don't you want to try http://www.sleeper.cz to log your records?
We all could see what you're up to immidiately.

If there were some problems, you can always write me. I'll try to fix/add feature asap (since it's holiday).

Best luck
