to Polyphasic Sleep
I was sick with H1N1 a little while ago, and with the holiday schedule
and new pressures from work I have been trying to get back to a
monophasic or biphasic schedule, just to comply and not have to deal
with so many missed naps and feelign like crud because of it at least
half the time. I know, something wierd for this forum! I thought that
because I was sick and sleeping up to 20 hours a day when ill that
this would be easy. Wow, was I wrong! I find that my body is really
tuned to the Everyman3 that I had adapted to. It's quite a shock to me
to deliberately stay awake through my nap periods, even though I feel
like sleeping, become awake again thereafter, and NOT be able to sleep
when I should for a more "normal" sleep schedule. Last night, for
example, I laid in bed for hours awake, trying to sleep. I could feel
the fatigue, but my body wouldn't sleep. Then around the time when I
normally slept for my core nap I conked right out. And I woke up when
my alarm would have gone off from my E3 core sleep. I was wide awake!
But I was really sleepy when I would take my first nap, went through a
period of being wide awake shortly after it would have ended, and I'm
starting to feel the fatigue again now, and will probably feel like
that the rest of the day. I may even take a nap late this afternoon,
just to cope, if I can swing it right after work. From things I read,
I would have never thought that going back to monophasic or biphasic
would be so difficult! I think it's going to have to be biphasic, just
so that I feel healthier and can adapt quicker.
