Download links for Polymer 2 won't work anymore

Hey I"m trying to download bunch of elements from webcomponent.org but they won't work for the versions lower than 3. So something like this 

npm install --save PolymerElements/paper-button

for instance won't work which is directly taken out from the website.

for versions before 3 try to use bower

bower install --save PolymerElements/paper-button#^2.0.0

However i agree and already complained about the politics regarding Polymer2. Seems that only 3.0 is of interest and it is assumed that everybody is happy (and able) to move on to version 3. This is not a good example of open source and sustainability - leaving users of older versions in the dust.

It's not moving up as much as moving a step over from version 2 to 3. The code really doesn't change, or the concepts and methods. Polymer 3 provides a quick path from HTML Imports, which is deprecated because several browser vendors wouldn't support it, to ES Modules managed by NPM, which is supported by all of them. It's not our intention to suggest that everyone is happy and able to move to version 3, which is why we're still maintaining both 1.x and 2.x. 

On the other hand, webcomponents.org does make it hard to find older versions of the elements, and that's confusing. There are basically separate versions of the page for npm and bower versions of the same element.

If you find an element via search, and it has an npm version, you'll end up on the page for the npm version:

https://www.webcomponents.org/element/@polymer/iron-icon

Click "View Bower Docs" in the left nav to see the bower versions:

https://www.webcomponents.org/element/PolymerElements/iron-icon?bower

Finally, click on the + side on the top of the left column (next to "and installed with bower") to show the actual install command.

thanks for pointing out the link to the bower docs. I actually overlooked it. however i agree that navigation to the 'older' stuff is a bit below optimal ;)
