As far as i understood the app-layout elements they were introduced as non-material-design alternatives for the paper-elements.

They don't use the material design color palette (e.g. --primary-text-color), or metrics (e.g. app-header doesn't change from 64px height to 56px on mobile, like paper-toolbar).

So why are the 2.0-preview paper counterparts for app-layout been marked as deprecated?
