Polymer and ES6 Modules

It would be good to start further discussion about how ES6 modules can integrate with Polymer. Module loading within HTML Import dependencies will need to be a common task in future so it would be good to start working this out a little more.

Myself and Addy have been working on the ES6 module loader polyfill, which is now mostly to specification and functional (although the loader specification is still subject to some change) https://github.com/ModuleLoader/es6-module-loader.

This project can potentially play quite well with Polymer.

I just noticed the integration demo sent out by Michael featuring RequireJS and Polymer being used together.

Based on this, I've been able to modify it to show a demo of using the ES6 Module Loader polyfill with Polymer here:


While this is a dynamic loading example, the same principles of running concatenated builds as RequireJS offers would apply in production.

Does this approach sound sensible? It would be great to discuss the concepts around this further.

I just started a yeoman project to try achieve all of this

I'm going to try avoid using grunt and gulp as much as possible.

If anyone want to add feature requests or suggestions or forks, please do so.
